Overall Satisfaction with Workfront

We are using Workfront in different capacities in multiple departments throughout the university. We started using it in technology services to get a better grasp of our technology project portfolio and for better management. Our marketing and communications team uses the product as an upgrade from a legacy system to manage their project workload and help facilitate their collaboration with other departments on joint projects. Our facilities department uses the reporting functionality to assist in their project review and portfolio management. Overall, Workfront gives the university an enterprise system that allows users to easily collaborate with one another while giving them the ability to manage their work on a daily basis while giving higher up management the abilty to manage the overall portfolio of work at a higher level.
  • Workfront does reporting very well. If its in the system, we are able to report off of it. The reports are easy to create, show valuable information and get the right information to the right people in short amounts of time.
  • Workfront helps manages work. Its that simple. Its easy to use interface allows all users to take advantage of the tool and manage their day to day activities all the way up to their higher level project duties.
  • Workfront is a good collaboration tool that essentially replaces emails. The update capability allows users to communicate with one another and keep a trail of what is being said and also all in one place instead of scattered throughout emails. The document management out of the box also allows for easy collaboration.
  • Workfront has done a great job of listening to their user community and making changes where appropriate. One of the areas that is being improved is the resource management functionality. This was a piece that wasn't touched much since we started using it in 2009 but recently they've made vast improvements and will continue to do so.
  • Workfront has an API that you can create your own applications or integrations with Workfront. The documentation has been OK but could be better, and there could be more training available on how to use it.
  • We have used reports on data out of Workfront to use as justification for new hires.
  • Our marketing team uses ProofHQ integrated with Workfront which saves them time in the digital asset review process
  • We are able to use the built in functionality to score and prioritize our projects to make sure our portfolios are best aligned with our strategic plan and we are working on the right things at the right time.
Workfront's user interface is one of the best that I've seen and is one of the big reasons why I am a big Workfront champion. The other projects had similar functionality but Workfront is the easiest to use in my opinion. Buttons are where you think they would be and things just work the way you think they should work in the tool. Sure, we could get by using another tool, but with all the functionality available, and ease of use, Workfront is the tool that I would keep turning back to.
For an enterprise solution, it is top notch and competes with the big players out there. For a small company, maybe 10-15 people, it might be overkill with all the great functionality available and you might not need it all. The pricing is very responsible though for any size company.
