Overall Satisfaction with Workfront
Our organization uses Workfront to manage all projects both internal and external being developed. At any one time, we would have over 200 live projects. It is used by all departments in our organisation, with production/development/qa/support teams using the full project management, scheduling and time recording aspects of the system. Management and client facing resources would use the reporting aspects.
Pros
- Good scheduling features so work can be assigned to the correct person.
- Real time reports - once time logged in the system it is immediately available for reports, does not have to be approved.
- Very extensive reporting and easily adapted to your specific needs.
Cons
- With projects - extremely annoying that there is no "double confirmation" when deleting tasks that have time already recorded against them. There should be a warning system that you are deleting an item with data recorded against.
- Resource Rate changes must have an applicable date associated with it. When we have a rate change, the current way the system works is that it applies it retrospectively to all time recorded to a project. This is a huge issue for projects that run over a rate change periods and frankly diminishes it power as an industry leading project/resource management tool.
- In the project view, should have a rolled up summary of actual hours & cost currently recorded against the project where the current "Status", "Condition" information is displayed.
- The initial adoption of project managers in relation to project setups was difficult as they were very familiar with MS Project as Workfront is not as flexible as they were use to.
- Time saving for project managers for task allocation and resource scheduling was automated.
- Real time project information available for client-facing resources rather than having to ask the PM for the information.
