8x8 Inc.
It's worked great as a general use phone system when it is working, issues seem very particular and odd when working to solve them and it seems like many issues that reoccur are hidden behind settings that only 8x8 Work can control, support is very responsive and knowledgeable, it's genuinely an easy product to work with and simple enough for any admin to work in, when it works it works well

Avaya Aura is secure and reliable; in our case, for customers that looking for stable solutions on voice, Avaya Aura is that solution fit. In a scenario where our customer is looking for digitalization, I think Avaya Aura is less appropriate.

Pros
8x8 Inc.
  • 8x8 Work manages roles and permissions well. It is very simple to create permission groups needed for certain roles that may even overlap teams needs.
  • User management is fairly simple and straight forward.
  • Analytics reporting is good quality for the higher tier licenses

  • So one of the things it's done well is it's stable. It's networked at all the sites. We have five-digit dialing everywhere, and one of the features we like is the crisis alert feature. So if somebody calls 911 at a particular school, it sets an alarm off on the phones upfront and displays the extension number and the room number of who called 911. So they can respond and they know where to send first responders. So it's pretty cool.

Cons
8x8 Inc.
  • Customer support do not respond properly if you are facing any compliance issue.
  • If any person in the organisation misbehaves with a customer and the customer raises a complaint to the concerned team, they suspend the organisation's entire
  • account without any warning.
  • Rarely we face voice disturbance.

  • Pricing is always a concern.
  • How to maintain the attractive price point as they transition from perpetual licensing to subscription-based.
  • Offering the benefits of 'economies of scale' even in situations where the transitioning is not wholesale from the onset but incremental over time.

All our employees love this product. No one has ever had an issue, whether it be the phone or fax. Great during the winter when employees have to work from home because of the snow. Never had an issue with the phone app. Highly recommend this product

Usability
8x8 Inc.
As mentioned before, I really like that it lets me talk to multiple people at once. Not many services allow up to 4 calls; usually, it's two at most. Plus, the call records are impeccable. There are no complaints there. As I said, I just wish there were call transcriptions, as the companies that use 8X8, I imagine, receive many calls, and humans can only remember a certain number of details. A transcription would be helpful.

Avaya Aura is extremely complex. Now that AI has come into the fold, Avaya needs to apply AI processes and tools to help identify and resolve issues with an installed platform. In addition, proactively identify potential issues. Ayaya has had some financial difficulties over the last few years. This may be why they outsource their expensive support. Our customer experience would benefit by having access to Avaya knowledgeable Engineers for questions about products and services as needed.

Reliability and Availability
8x8 Inc.
The 8x8 product is absolutely the best when it comes to this! I have had zero application errors or unplanned outages allowing me the opportunity to provide a constant source of reliable customer service to my members. I know this is something I can count on. Unlike the internet, it is subject to go down without warning

Performance
8x8 Inc.
No problems with performance, Pages load as they should. I can't answer on the reports side as only a handful of our Admins ( call center ) currently use that side of the software. It does intergrate very well with Office for meetings and conferences. Sometimes there is a slight lag or static when users are talking, but we found this to be a cause of a users computer had not restarted in a while, Once the user restarts thier computer the problem is resolved, So this is not an issue with 8x8

We are a USA based organization. Support was refreshingly quick (callback via phone or email, online live agents). Agents are knowledgeable, thorough in their explanations, and extremely patient when dealing with end-users at various levels of the ICT knowledge spectrum.

Implementation Rating
8x8 Inc.
The implementation of 8x8 X was rather smooth. We had training prior to getting the system. The IT company did a good job on the training. The whole system is wonderful. Saves me so much time with the faxing, as i can just let it go by itself and not have to make sure pages don't get skipped, as with a regular fax machine.

The customer support is not good on Zoom. They do not know about their product. When we ask something about a Zoom feature, customer support takes time and denied for that feature but those features available in Zoom and we have to find out those features by Google and logs. 8x8 Work is the best in the market.

So I've seen the Cisco product out there. I've seen the old Nortel products, Mitel, I've been doing this for a long time. I've seen a lot of other products. And Avaya, Nortel were the Western Electric and Northern Electric of the world way back when. So pretty much the grandparents of all the other stuff that's out there. So their foundation is really strong. So I think this product stacks up amazing, especially for places that are mission critical, like hospitals, maybe the military, and stuff like that. They have the app, if you need an app, they do stuff on mobile devices, and that you can have remote workers. So I think they stack up really well against the other companies. The problem is probably advertising and the schools that are teaching this stuff are promoting a particular product and that's where the other products have the advantage. They're in the schools and it's, I call it indoctrination, but they're in the schools and they're teaching the people. The other product, their competitors are teaching in the schools, their product line. And that's how they can do promotion better.

Scalability

The only issue was adding licences was not via a button click but through your account admin which seems bad practice in a SaaS world as the user should be able to sign up, amend and close their account with ease

PS had all the users etc. set up by our go-live date. All hard phones were activated and when we received them, all we had to do was set them up and punch in the activation code to activate them.

Return on Investment

  • Efficiency to be on the road and still have our calls well-managed.
  • Whether on the road or in the office, the incoming caller always assumes we are at our desks and in touch.
  • The ability to change our outgoing messages to suit immediate needs is simple.

  • As far as a negative impact on a surface level, not too much negative impact was to go right into that and we had the scare eight months ago. Well, we didn't know if Avaya was a product we were going to be able to continue with. But after this conference, we got the warm and fuzzies back. That is a product that we can keep for a number of years and they'll continue to grow and keep on upgrading it and stay current. So we'll be sticking with that.
