Likelihood to Recommend

Asana

Asana keeps you on track and helps you prioritize projects and to-dos. I like that you can see what you've previously worked on and accomplished. It's less appropriate for teams who are very active inside their email, like Outlook, and prefer to use the Tasks function already in their email software. Asana is rewarding to teams and helps projects be completed on time

OneDrive

OneDrive works well when you have dedicated resources to manage and keep the backing SharePoint site organized, and a team that's most familiar with Microsoft Office products. For a more tech-savvy teams that rely more heavily on real-time collaboration, Google Drive may be a better choice.

Pros

Asana

  • The best tools of Asana are found once we start a project, since the calendar that is integrated into our mail is super easy to use and we use it as a small agenda.
  • The management of projects is incredible, the monitoring provided is one of the best in its category, since it facilitates group work.
  • The creation and assignment of tasks, notifications and that each person can enter to work no matter where it is since it has a good mobile and web interface.

OneDrive

  • Easy sync between my computer and the cloud. I just select the folder(s) to sync and I'm done.
  • Easily share files with others. This allows for fast and simple collaboration between numerous individuals.
  • Automatic synchronization between selected local folders and my OneDrive cloud folder. I can automatically sync all my local documents to the cloud for easy access when not at my computer.

Cons

Asana

  • Asana does a lot, so it can sometimes be hard to find the right place to be to find the tools you need.
  • Organization is only as good as you make it and just because a system makes sense to the person that creates it does not mean it will make sense to anyone else.
  • It can be challenging to find the information you need via search.

OneDrive

  • It would be great if my cloud-based folders and files could be presented in my Windows Explorer without having to synchronize them locally. I could then simply browse them and if necessary, download them as needed.
  • The "cloud" icon looks very much like many other cloud-based storage icons making it less than intuitive to know which one to click. There should be options to select other icons for the system tray application.
  • I have both a personal and corporate OneDrive account and would prefer to access them both from one system tray icon. Currently I have two separate icons.

Big fan of Asana. There are many free tools out there so difficult to take on more cost when we have free tools we can use

It's very straightforward to use and doesn't require any training. It's intuitive to use. The menus and buttons are where you'd naturally expect them to be. It's very user friendly

Using OneDrive is very intuitive and has been improved over the years. It's just like using native file management on either your Mac or PC. It's drag and drop functionality is easy and it clearly shows when files are uploaded to the cloud or if there are errors

It has a good performance, the pages load normally, access to the files, management, reports, everything is working well. With regard to integration with other systems, we have not done so yet.

Honestly I had to ask them for support only one time, so I can't rate them properly. That one time they gave me adequate support and the response came in an adequate time too. Being a tool as easy to use as it is - it's not very frequent that we need support from them.

We're fairly happy with it. They are somewhat responsive, but it would be nice if the phone support were better. It's not always convenient to have to submit a ticket request when you have an urgent problem, particularly one that could compromise your company security. Overall, they're pretty good.

Alternatives Considered

Asana

There were a combination of factors that led us to decide on Asana, including ease of use and external system integrations, but primarily we could use it across geographically distributed offices successfully and incorporate a variety of end user work flows based on global geography, team constitution, and market focus

OneDrive

OneDrive is part of our O365 platform so was an easy choice based on cost. For our initial needs, it has served us well but we are actively looking at more robust solutions that don’t just store data but give us detailed intelligence on how content is being used, in which situations and allows us to push out just in time content to all platforms instantly as needed.

Return on Investment

Asana

  • Asana allowed us to finish our projects on time which allowed us to please the client and get more projects from them.
  • Asana helped my team to be more efficient in fulfilling their tasks since they know to finish the most important task first down to the least important task.
  • Overall, it helps us to be more efficient and effective in doing our work and it helped us to get the loyalty of our existing clients. Our revenue increased and employee satisfaction increased too.

OneDrive

  • The positive impact is ease of access to documents.
  • Another positive is being able to control who has access to what documents.
  • We had the AC unit in our server room go out over the summer, and our servers fried. People who had not transitioned to OneDrive could not work for several days. With OneDrive, hardware failure is not an issue because users can access from anywhere with a web browser.
