AVI-SPL is great for a space that serves as both a hybrid classroom as well as hybrid event space. We work in education and also do a lot of dealings with external parties and their events, and i would say that AVI-SPL is great for these kinds of spaces. I think they're a little overpowered for spaces that are simple meeting rooms though.
Slalom has been a close partner for us for our strategy, technology, and digital transformation initiatives. The firm's strategic guidance, project planning, and management for technology initiatives including cloud migration, and IT architecture have been impeccable. The team also possesses a number of core technology certifications across cloud vendors such as Salesforce, Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, and a number of other critical platforms for digital transformation.
Install times are generally booked out a bit. I know that there is a balance between demand and onhand resources.
Pricing. They are by far one of the most expensive. I constantly need to look for ways to trim back costs because there is quite a lot baked into the quote in terms of maintenance and it feels like a cash grab in the end. I've gotten quotes elsewhere due to some of the numbers I've received and they all have come well under AVI-SPL's. Here's the list of line items from what I've seen from my last quote and this is from one conference room. Equipment Total, Installation Materials, Professional Services, Direct Costs, General and Administrative, Room Support and Maintenance, Device Maintenance. This feels egregious.
They are a great company to work with overall, but there is always room for improvement. We have had incredibly positive experiences with our main sales rep for any and all purchases. The installation team in southwest VA is lacking and lead to quite a lot of issues on a large scale project last year.
They had us replace the PC three times stating that the PSU was not strong enough to power the USB bus. The last PC had a 1500w PSU. The USB devices kept not working because they had too many USB devices connected. We had to hire another company to come out and fix this mistake as well. They redesigned the solution to get the features that we requested from the beginning and something that would work correctly
Because of the highly customized nature of our AV installation and the presence of vendor-provided onsite support, response time to our reports of a serious problem are generally handled expeditiously by highly-qualified, Tier 3 personnel. In the case of more typical installations that we have provisioned from AVI-SPL, turnaround usually takes longer, which can be frustrating at times.
Given a caveat that this project had major changes to overcome, I would say AVI-SPL did about as well as any large installer out there could do under the circumstances.
AVI SPL was selected for this project based on its competitive pricing. They were also chosen based on the timeliness of their proposal since our project was under a very specific deadline that we were given by our project leadership. They met the deadline and executed the project in a manner consistent with our quality standards.
We evaluated a number of providers across cloud and digital transformation consulting. Across all facets of our diligence and research, including cloud consulting, mobility consulting, and IT strategy consulting, Slalom consistently scored at the top of our scorecard. In evaluating Slalom, we appreciated the breadth of experience that they possessed across functional pillars from business strategy work to technology integration experience to business change management.
Feedback of our Training rooms is great! People rely on them for large conferences, meetings, and Trainings. The rooms are easy to use and reliable.
Having the peace of mind of a service contract keeps me doing my job instead of troubleshooting a broken room. I get to work with my customers to make sure they always have what they need.
Rooms going down is a major disruption to our business. We have dozens of conference rooms that are used constantly. Without these rooms up and running, we lose business. AVI-SPL helps keep our rooms up to date and reliable so we can keep doing business.
