The major reason to choose Celonis is that it has enhanced decision-making in filtering the candidates. The frontend designer has nice graphics and has well-designed self-service. I particularly enjoy the visual editor, which allows you to create complicated PQL without having …
Celonis allows input information to be worked within the tool, while IBM Process Mining does not.
In the rest of the functionalities that we evaluated, Celonis and IBM have similar characteristics. However, Celonis license cost is ten times higher.

Celonis is ideal for the recruitment process, which involves individuals applying, interviewing, being offered, and accepting positions. Celonis also allows the HR department to manage the data from the recruitment process, allowing them to track the speed of the process and understand why candidates drop out. Celonis examines the efficacy of HR systems, how they respond to employee requests, and who is in charge of specific activities.
The data mining used within our organization uncovered many logs, records and unnoticed processes, which resulted in a very detailed visual representation of the end-to-end processes, mapped out in sequence of events. We were able to identify a few bottlenecks which caused delays and deviations in our workflows. In short we were able to iron out the inefficiencies, which helped tremendously in deploying targeted improvements to our internal processes.
The team is incredible at integrating background tables, and building out the real-life processes end users are going through so that opportunities can be quickly identified. They continually persevere and are willing to bring in new data sets to make the platform as productive as possible.
The team continually challenges our internal business processes and setups to ensure that we are hunting for opportunities and pushing the limits of what we thought was possible for improving our operations
The X-ray view within the process explorer and the variant explorer provides a transparent overview of the order to cash process which we did not have previously
OLAP tables and different dimensions to slice the data with [helping] us find the root cause of the improvement opportunity that we want to focus on
Execution instruments like Action Flow help us take advantage of any insights provided to us within the process explorer
Dashboard views of specific KPIs help us build and export management reports with ease
Sometimes processes are not automated in the best way, that is, the person responsible for using the tool must contribute and carry out this analysis to avoid problems.
Initial implementation and configuration can require an investment of considerable time and resources. It is also important to have qualified people to make the most of the data collected by the tool.
Another point to keep in mind is data privacy, since the tool can manipulate sensitive data in the process mining process.
It's a complex system to understand and truly master
We have been able to leverage Celonis [greatly] because of the commitment and support we receive from our data scientist. I strongly believe that we would not be able to accomplish this without her assistance. Moreover, when we escalate matters, the product development is engaged and commits resources to make sure our initiatives/business cases are supported.
I think it is the best process mining software that can currently exist, others are similar, but do not meet our expectations, we will use it for a long time, it is a system that makes us productive with minimal manual effort, the quality of the results they are amazing.
It is a great tool but also requires a lot of work to get it into a useable fashion. Part of this is on our end as we don't have the dedicated analyst function yet to really become self-sufficient with Celonis. It also uncovers a lot of data issues or at the very least, multiple rounds of development and data validation are required before getting to a position where the business users feel comfortable with the data being reflected. This is fairly normal with any data-related development effort and perhaps not unique to Celonis.
The initial integration/configuration is complex and hence takes time. Once integrated it is very easy and nice to use. We can have the analytics with a very user-friendly dashboard. It provides detailed information which helps in finding causes and hence in improvement. I would say it is a very nice and user-friendly tool.
We submit tickets to Celonis through product support. No assistance is generally provided, have to wait and the ticket is then escalated to product support in Germany. Many times we submit the ticket and the support desk asks us the same questions back where they should already have this information.
The customer support team has held our hand in digital transformation journey and provided the best guidance and tools. When contacted they are always ready with effective solution of the raised issue. The team visits the company regularly to audit performance of the application and provide necessary updates. They provides awareness and business risks that might arise from various business engagements and expected risks.
The key difference for me as the user and as an analyst is the ease with which Celonis allowed me to shape the analysis myself. Other tools rely on what an analyst created in hopes that it will serve the purpose to everybody. So many times, however, I find myself stuck, wishing to apply a different angle to my analysis but needing to request IT enhancement, which takes time. Celonis gives me the extra flexibility which I have not yet experienced anywhere else.
Identify automation opportunities, prioritize by impact and expected ROI, and fast-track implementation with automated RPA bot generation. IBM Process Mining helps us by identifying non-conformant cases to identify the root causes of deviations, stakeholders involved and impact on key performance indicators. Accelerate digital transformation and through data-driven insights we are able to make faster and more informed business decisions.
I have seen Celonis save tens of millions of euros for some clients in the improvements of processing of invoices.
I have seen Celonis take days off of processing times in purchasing processes.
I have seen Celonis provide insights for potential opportunities but no monetary or process-based results when an organization did not take action of the insights generated by the platform.
IBM Process Mining helps limit our reliance on the human bias with data-driven, fact-based process intelligence.
Easy to identify automation opportunities, prioritize by impact and expected ROI.
It helps us to predict the impact and ROI of change initiatives and identify potential operational risks before making investments by performing what-if analyses.
