Celonis vs. Oracle BPM Suite vs. UiPath Process Mining

Some projects have already reached out to me, looking for input if they should do something similar. My feedback has been that Celonis has given us a lot in terms of understanding the process and giving us a baseline in order to measure what we do going forward. My feedback is that they need to be clear on their requirements and expectations of what they want to achieve in advance. Celonis is not a silver bullet that can identify problems and solutions, but it can give us a deep understanding once we know what we are looking for.

Oracle BPM is well suited to organizations and environments that have a good understanding of their business processes and organizational structures. Trying to introduce a tool such as Oracle BPM into the organization without a good grasp on how the business operates is a recipe for disaster as the implementation will uncover all of the dirty secrets of an organizations business processes and bring them to light. BPM is not to be utilized for smaller service orchestrations or technical service implementations, these should be handled by the Oracle SOA Suite using the BPEL process manager, leaving BPM to handle the organizational business processes, referring to and including lower level services and BPEL processes as needed.

document understanding, which is a key aspect of process mining, has its strengths and weaknesses. Its capability with handwritten or scanned documents is not there yet - compared to its competitors such as Abbyy. However, the integration with Uipath orchestrator and the studio is fantastic, plus its ability to integrate seamlessly with other applications.

• We had to build a custom dashboard for tracking value realization, as the transformation center was minimal in scope. For a very value-focused company, this area can be improved, which would be incredibly beneficial.
• The current licensing model sometimes limits the ambitious value goals, as we can't experiment with building analyses in different areas without a long-term license for that process.

• Oracle BPM is left behind by other tools more modern in terms of user experience, usability and ability to integrate with everything else.
• To really harvest the potential of Oracle BPM you need to do it in JDeveloper and with ADF. This restricts its usage to very technical people.
• The administration of the Oracle BPM tools has really put a burden on our team. It is running on Weblogic and we experience issues very often either with performance or with a bad configuration of the system.
• As with all Oracle products, the price can be an issue for smaller shops.

• It seems to be offered as a stand-alone product by UiPath which tends to increase the number of dedicated platforms that in-house developers have to mind. Integration into one of its already existing platforms would have been the best. Nonetheless, this does not impact its performance in any way, but rather the productivity of the user in the long run.

We have been able to leverage Celonis [greatly] because of the commitment and support we receive from our data scientist. I strongly believe that we would not be able to accomplish this without her assistance. Moreover, when we escalate matters, the product development is engaged and commits resources to make sure our initiatives/business cases are supported.

In many scenarios it should have provided more features. It took a lot of effort while debugging, making it difficult to maintain.

It's been such a helpful investment with a very good return on an investment. The amount of time alone we have been able to say by deploying UiPath Process Mining (formerly ProcessGold) has been worth it alone, not to mention the additional money we are able to generate through deploying these processes

It is a great tool but also requires a lot of work to get it into a useable fashion. Part of this is on our end as we don't have the dedicated analyst function yet to really become self-sufficient with Celonis. It also uncovers a lot of data issues or at the very least, multiple rounds of development and data validation are required before getting to a position where the business users feel comfortable with the data being reflected. This is fairly normal with any data-related development effort and perhaps not unique to Celonis.

We submit tickets to Celonis through product support. No assistance is generally provided, have to wait and the ticket is then escalated to product support in Germany. Many times we submit the ticket and the support desk asks us the same questions back where they should already have this information.

It a good product. I would definitely keep using it in the near future. We have had good feedback within the team and also from our stakeholders on the other side of the table. Right now, there isn't any other tool out there better for doing the tasks that UiPath is doing.

Celonis has a lot of tools to support the implementation.

Overall satisfactory

The major reason to choose Celonis is that it has enhanced decision-making in filtering the candidates. The frontend designer has nice graphics and has well-designed self-service. I particularly enjoy the visual editor, which allows you to create complicated PQL without having to write any code, as well as the numerous filtering choices, including process mining options.

We evaluated Bonita and found that it might fit a smaller-sized company better; we found that Oracle BPM Suite scaled much more evenly. We almost went with one of the competitors, but in the end chose Oracle BPM Suite after we factored in the cost of VMware licensing. There are literally tons of analytics on the back end which are great for upper management, but not so much for average users, but this fits our business model quite well.

UiPath platform allows more flexibility when developing processes and has a great product road map. They are investing in developing new features and improving their products which will allow our clients to accomplish more using UiPath.

• The previous IFRS 9 calculation method was reaching its end of life—Celonis is a direct replacement for us.
• When rebuilding our logic from the old system to the new, it gave us a much-needed opportunity to revamp and standardise company codes and, in some cases, even pick up some errors.

• You'll most certainly need a deep dive and extensive training before your users can even think of using the product and they are very expensive.
• Lack of documentation makes it very difficult to manage the application if any error is encountered which will result in you ending up hiring a dedicated person to look into the application once it's deployed.
• For a very large org., if properly implemented and used, it can help identify the cost-intensive and inefficient processes.

• Reusability stands out as one of our company's objectives. UiPath Process Mining offers performance data and analytics that guide us and act as benchmarking parameters while gauging the performance of our robots and processes.
• A company that is intending or already scaled, the accuracy of the performance analytics of your RPA strategy is most vital to minimise resource wastage. UiPath Process Mining has enabled us to track the correlation of our productivity and performance with the resources at hand and then come to rather more accurate business decisions in this regard.
