CodeTwo Backup vs. Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365

CodeTwo Backup for Office 365 is the rare type of software that works for both SMB's and larger businesses. The built in backup and restore features of Office 365 are too rudimentary and PowerShell based to allow lower level IT people the ability to use them. CodeTwo opens the door to allowing day to day helpdesk employees the ability to assist customers with restore needs. As with anything Office 365, there is a limit on how well is works with the system and CodeTwo does not backup Archive mailboxes so if your organization is one that uses them extensively, you should go into the deal realizing that archive restores would still need to use the built in MS offerings

This is the most advanced product for backing Microsoft 365 data from my experience. It is easy to deploy and learn how it works in an organization. The proactive customer support team responds quickly to customer requests. It is efficiently suited in data protection for any industrial purpose. Employees operating from remote areas can easily access data updates from our website. The automatic data backup has saved the organization from losing critical information.

• My CFO seemed to have lost a whole year of important emails. I simply restored them to his mailbox in a matter of minutes.
• An employee left the company but an issue came up with a quote this person sent out. I could search his mailbox and got the quote as well as all communications from that customer.
• It is nice to be able to search emails in various mailboxes without disturbing the user.
• It is also nice to go back in time. Say they deleted those emails last month I can go back years if needed.

• Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 isn't 'multi geo' aware - this means we have to manually select resources to back up depending on their geo-location.
• Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 doesn't backup Private Channels users create in a Team - there are workarounds for this but it would be nice if this just worked.

Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 just works so well and is so easy to use. I researched multiple options for Office 365 backup and none seemed to be as easy to setup and use as Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 and the pricing was very comfortable to us. I can't imagine any reason why we would change away from Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365.

Because both the initial installation and normal management are very simple. The administrative interface is very intuitive and it is possible to manage everything with a few simple clicks. I have never come across an issue where I needed to reach out to Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 support in the past. Given how easy my experience was setting up the software, configuring it, and ease of use I assume the customer support will be just as easy to utilize.

Although Veeam's offerings are somewhat similar in trying to add additional layers of protection, on the Microsoft's default offerings, the CodeTwo product was more situated to do what we wanted which was brick level back up and restores of single files and emails. Veeams offering is more backend server/virtual machine savvy

I love how I safely backup all my organization data, Office 365 documents from Microsoft Exchange online, SharePoint Online, it seems to work well with on-premises, cloud and hybrid deployments. I also like how easy to connect to 0365 and start running the backup effectively. The UI is great and user friendly. Phenomenal Support Team.
