Luminate CRM and Analytics

It does great with donor cultivation processes and the workflow feature is top-notch for automating processes. Where it does a less than stellar job is getting it to work more specifically for your organization. Often times building that kind of special feature costs a significant time and money investment and it is something that is hard to transfer when it's time to move to a new database.

Network for Good

Network for Good is simple, easy to implement, and provides multiple opportunities for our small nonprofit organization to identify new donors, connect with current donors, and provide regular and continual communication opportunities. The system can be tailored to our unique and individual needs and that was very important to our organization. I like that the network for a good support team is always available when we need them and that we are not alone in this new endeavor.

Pros

Luminate CRM and Analytics

  • Multiple tools on one platform. It saves time and lowers chances of error since we don't have to switch between a lot of platforms. Many less tech savy admins appreciate one login for everything.
  • We use our events calendar for many things, and the tools are fairly specialized for a more modern and easy to browse web calendar (having mobile optimized wrappers make all the difference).
  • Email campaigns can be segmented and more carefully targeted, both through ab testing and their reports.

Network for Good

  • Their customer service is incredibly quick to respond and help resolve anything you need.
  • They are constantly giving you ideas and tips on how to raise more money and or engage your donors.
  • They make it easy for you to see where your money is coming from and where it is allocated.

Cons

Luminate CRM and Analytics

  • In my experience, the Blackbaud team is a nightmare to work with, and customization of Luminate CRM (or basic updates) will cost an arm and a leg.
  • Luminate imperfectly lays over the Salesforce platform, so if you use certain Salesforce functions you can really compromise the integrity of your data.
  • The layout and user experience is pretty subpar. The reporting feature is also not as robust as other databases.

Network for Good

  • The donor form can be a bit complicated/lengthy, though I realize you need to capture information.
  • There are limitations on the number of characters allowed on your giving page.

Support Rating

Luminate CRM and Analytics

Luminate CRM and Analytics 1.0
Based on 1 answer
Support for the product is horrible; often support will have you bouncing between Blackbaud support and Salesforce support and it's very rare either are able to find simple solutions. Most of the time the solutions almost always cost money and hiring consultants which, for a smaller organization, means not being able to achieve proper solutions.

Alternatives Considered

Luminate CRM and Analytics

Both MailChimp and Salesforce were sleeker and had a better admin experience (as well as constituent experience on the end) but both programs were more expensive than we could afford when we put all the digital tools we needed together. We ended up valuing LO more because it could do everything in one.

Network for Good

Network for Good had more usability and was overall more useful than DonorPerfect. It's also less glitchy. The whole team can use Network for Good, but only our Development team used DonorPerfect. The integration of communications, ticketing, and forms are priceless. Network for Good also has much better customer service. Network for Good is also less expensive than its competitors. I'm very happy that we switched.

Return on Investment

Luminate CRM and Analytics

  • Uncertain; we have not collected data on this. Our Luminate package is quite expensive, though.

Network for Good

  • We have gained recurring donors, donors can set up automatic donations, so they don't have to send a check each month.
  • Helps us keep track of current and lapsed donors, which helps us target our solicitations.
  • The newsletter templates have streamlined our monthly communication with our supporters.
