It gets the job done. As a remote worker, I find it very easy and efficient to use. With using GoTo for audio, it makes it very efficient that I only have one account for all. Its a perfect tool for a company like us who constantly communicate and collaborate virtually.

I find Polycom RealPresence to be useful when having one on one conversations in purpose built rooms for video conferencing. That is where the quality of the product shines. However, I dislike using Polycom Real Presence for any sort of content sharing because of the issues around resolution. If I need to share content of any kind, I prefer to use other teleconferencing solutions.

Cons
GoTo (formerly LogMeIn)
  • You have to download an app that doesn't work well in order to blur the speakers and hosts background. I tried the third party app a few times, but its terrible.
  • I think the Customer service is ok
  • In my opinion, if you don't have the latest updates to your computer, it won't run properly.
  • Sometimes the host video doesn't appear.

  • Back end setup isn't very intuitive.
  • Every now and then we get a delay when conferencing and using multiple features.

While we have found GoTo Meeting to be very useful and a part of our normal way of doing business, there are alternatives that are more cost-effective. For example, Microsoft Teams is available as part of our M365 subscription. This will require us to complete a cost analysis to determine which product makes more sense for us to move forward with.

Usability
GoTo (formerly LogMeIn)
The simplicity of GoToMeetings desktop, mobile, and web-based applications make it a very robust and user-friendly meeting solution. At times, it may be more complex than needed, but it is nice to have so many features that can be used if needed. Once installed, it is very easy to use and navigate.

Support Rating
GoTo (formerly LogMeIn)
When we have issues, they seem to respond quickly and do everything they can to help us. They have even tried to find other ways we could get more use out of their product, or improve the way we are currently using it. Overall, their support has been fairly good for us.

Polycom RealPresence is really only the preferred teleconferencing solution when using a purpose built room for a scheduled face to face meeting. For ad hoc video meetings, Hangouts, Skype, and Slack all provide fewer friction points for average use cases. In fact, as Google accounts are nearly ubiquitous at this point, Hangouts has almost become the de facto standard for ad hoc video conferencing amongst our users.

Return on Investment
GoTo (formerly LogMeIn)
  • Positive: Staying close to client and making sure they have the best customer service.
  • Positive: Creating higher client conversion rates by being present on calls.
  • Negative: When technical issues occur on GoTo Meeting the client is left wondering how professional we are.

  • Personally we have not gotten our money's worth, but this is not Polycom's fault, it is because users found it difficult to use.
  • As for me personally, I used it for video conferencing, but my job was to make sure that it was operational for video conferencing.
  • As stated earlier, even though I found it very easy to use, my users did not, and as such tended to video conference with other apps.
