Klaviyo
Klaviyo is great for eCommerce sites, and ideal for Shopify. Klaviyo does integrate with other platforms - like BigCommerce. It's best utilized for businesses who already have their mission, vision, customer base, a well-designed site, are paying for traffic (via FB/Google, or some other source), and are willing to implement best practice designs to their emails and flows. For these stores, they might see 30-50% revenue increase. It's a bit expensive for beginners, but it can be used by beginners - because it's so easy to use. You'll see greater efficiency and effectiveness if you understand where email fits in your business. It's not a great CRM for other industries, like coaching. It can work - but not recommended.

Starting a business you have enough stuff to deal with. Ontraport takes the headache out of the tech side. Everything works together and you don't ever get left alone to figure things out. I would beg any new business to invest in Ontraport. Or if you want to grow and scale an existing business it would be great. I think it more for service-based business.

- Easy UX: The entire platform is very visual. It's easy to navigate, understand, and use. It's really well designed, and it helps business owners understand the set up / steps in the email marketing automation.
- Visual flow-building: This allows us to automate pieces of our client's business. For example, create a map of a series of emails that automatically follow-up with people who abandon carts in our client's store, indicating how many emails, when they go out, who sees them, and split test emails against one another in this format.
- Individual email building: Klaviyo makes it easy for us to design client emails with an easy builder or with HTML code. Klaviyo allows you to set up saved blocks to make your building experience more efficient as well.
- Measurement: Klaviyo makes it easy for users to see campaigns and which ones create greater click-through, open rate, conversion $ and more. You can also watch where people open the emails around the world with a map, or see which users opened particular emails.
- Individual user tracking: It's so helpful to see customer journeys throughout the entire process. You can see individual profiles and how often they visited a site, opened an email, made a purchase, how much that purchase was worth, etc.
- Integrations - pretty easy to use with multiple commerce sites, but ideal for Shopify. Easily integrates with other software.
- Automation - There are built-in templates and flows created inside of the platform. Even a novice could implement something basic and see results in their business. (better if they are customized)

- ONTRAPORT plays nice with our scheduling software and WordPress so we can implement new material without hassle.
- Campaigns and automation is simple to set up and monitor which helps us use more of their tools instead of paying for complex features we'll never use.

- This is our first holiday season using Klaviyo. It seems like their system does get overwhelmed at times with pages that don't load or even images in emails that have been sent not loading.
- Klaviyo does allow you to insert custom HTML however we have not found it useful. The code we enter in the custom HTML box sometimes doesn't render correctly in the final send.
- One HUGE thing about Klaviyo is the fact that is clips your message when viewed in gmail if it has too many links. Klaviyo adds a TON of extra tracking info to the ends of links inserted into emails so it causes the file size to go up. Once the file size limit is met, gmail starts clipping the bottom of your messages causing consumers to miss much of your message unless they click the link at the bottom of their email to view more. This is a major flaw in my opinion.

- Integrations. Basically, all integrations are done using Zapier. This is a huge time suck. In other programs like ActiveCampaign, you have WordPress plugins to import your data from Gravity Forms. It takes 2 minutes to set up. With Zapier, even a simple integration takes a minimum of 30 minutes to setup and test to the point where you trust it.
- Documentation: there is a lot of documentation, but a lot of it is confusing with not enough examples to make something clear.
- Templates: other programs like Drip focus on more templates for campaigns. While there are a few here, there's really not a ton and they don't seem carefully curated.
- Learning curve: it took a really long time to get it set up for our business. I appreciated the onboarding sessions, which definitely helped a lot, but it could have been simpler.
- Version 5: last year ONTRAPORT launched their newest version of their software. I can see that it's a foundation that they will be able to build a lot on, but it's not fleshed out yet. Like a fresh foundation and a good building, but not a lot of paint or polish yet.
- Sales funnels: managing people through a sales funnel just happens through a custom field that you set up. There's no predetermined "section" for something that a lot of sales teams would want. It makes it easy to not know what's going to happen with your automation when you send someone to a new part of the sales funnel (ie. you move someone to the next part of the sales funnel, it triggers an automation, maybe you weren't aware of that). It would be great if it gave you a quick summary of some of the automation you're about to send when you take actions.
- Intimidation: enough said. It just feels intimidating to set this stuff up. This may be true for all the other automation programs too though.

Klaviyo is simply a great solution for e-com email marketing & customer relationship management:
- User journey visibility: We can see our clients' customers on their individual user journeys (open email, site visits) to better understand and accommodate your customers.
- Flow automation: Creating automated emails that follow up with new leads, those who abandoned carts, purchased.
- Email design: So easy to use, and more friendly than some other visual builders that we've used.
- Metrics visibility: We can see our clients' metrics very easily and adjust efforts accordingly.

My client was already using Ontraport and had a decent investment in the tool. As soon as we turn around the revenue situation with my client's products, we will be ditching OAP immediately, despite the significant re-implementation cost we are going to face moving to a new system. I am part of a high-end, professional marketing group, and the overwhelming sentiment with these other professionals is that one should run away from this as fast as humanly possible. I thought their words were just ungrounded opinion, and I deeply regret that I did not heed them more closely before sinking still more time and effort into OAP.

It's a decent platform with a user friendly interface, however it massively misses trust due to unsecured systems and support from customer service; support is a massive problem if you run a company and have a problem with the service that you can't fix. On the other side of the line, in our experience, there is no support or understanding which we haven't encountered with any other company we have done business online in the last decade.

The software is just easy to use. The UI is fairly intuitive. The help system is pretty good. I find it is pretty quick to get my work completed and if I don't document my things well, I can always figure out how I did something when I need to make changes.When I have a problem the tech support is easy to deal with and when things need to get escalated they are resolved quickly.

The techs are reasonably savvy, highly courteous and want to do right by their customers. Unfortunately, the product they are supporting is so deeply flawed that there's only so much they can do when your legitimate business requirements are simply not supported.

Klaviyo is the perfect mid-market option. It has more features, especially around automation than Mailchimp and AWeber (plus a Shopify and Shopify Plus integration), and holds its own upstream against larger enterprise options like Emarsys, Listrak, and others at that level. I can't think of a better option for eCommerce brands doing between $1MM-$50MM in online revenue.

Ontraport is capable of more than MailChimp and AWeber, both of which I would consider beginner systems. It is also easier to use and understand initially than Infusionsoft, and takes less time to get off the ground when you make the change. It is capable of very complex tasks but the user interface is simple and the tasks are easy to construct. It takes away my worry and pain, that reason alone is enough to recommend them!
