Cybeready. In comparison to KnowBe4: - Less templates available; - less videos available; - Industry Benchmark Data is not available; - more expensive.
We evaluated Trend Micro Phish Insight (not listed above), which we have access to via our OfficeScan/Apex One license. KnowBe4 had much more comprehensive training. Phish Insight also lacked the ability to test users at the time we evaluated - it was training only.
KnowBe4 Security Awareness Training is well suited for a variety of industries and user groups. Topics range from less advanced, intermediate and advanced. I cannot think of areas of user groups that are not applicable. The best scenarios encompass common use cases for anyone who accesses the internet or uses e-mail applications.
Before Trend Micro OfficeScan we used Symantec Endpoint Protection and although it was very easy to deploy and to update agents it couldn't find a virus if you pointed it out with a neon sign. We were always getting hit with different viruses but since we migrated to Trend we no longer have that problem. Trend has definitely been preventing those kind of outbreaks successfully.
The product has two important aspects, centralized console and an agent which is typically installed on every machine. When the product is installed on a dedicated server then all computers can readily get updated while in the same network (provided the agent is installed on every machine). This helps the machine to avoid any kind of virus attacks.
Even if the machines are not in the same network where the console is being run it can directly get all updates from the Trend Micro server directly and the machine is still protected. Hence, it is not necessary that users have to visit the office or internal network to get the update, once the agent is installed on the machine then they can get the update from anywhere as long as the machine has access to the Internet.
Once the agent is installed on the machine the users can themselves do a full scan and even check the logs themselves.
Only thing I would have to say that's negative is the reporting aspect. Basic reporting is good but still lacks some details. This is a problem with many of the software vendors I have encountered in the past as well. Reporting is still much better than most.
No question, KnowBe4 Security Awareness Training is a great value to our organization. Properly training our users in the proper use of email and how to be aware of possible dangerous emails is incredibly important now. Also, training users in the best practices for phone calls, as well as internet browsing can prevent data or information from being stolen or exposed. Users have even benefited when using their personal devices as a result of the trainings they have received at work.
It is very easy to stick with a vendor year after year, and it is also easy to see the faults in a product and want to change. This is the first time I have renewed with an antiviurs provider as others have been less than ideal and caused issues where there were none before, so while it isn't perfect, it is the best of the bunch currently and I am hopeful that it will continue to improve in future versions.
The rating is, assuming, you have either used much more complex administrative panels before or you're old enough that you have a bit of wisdom. I suspect some of the youngest of today's workforce might find the administrative UI a bit old-school and difficult to make logical sense of. However, if you take it one link at a time and give yourself a day to read through their very detailed documentation, it's a very straightforward system with little room for surprises.
KnowBe4's product has always been available as needed. We have new hire orientation periodically and phishing campaigns scheduled throughout the year. KnowBe4 is like the person you hired to do a job and they just show up day after day and complete it in exemplary fashion. I think we had an erroneous report once early on, but that was due to a configuration error on our part if I remember correctly
Pages load quickly, filter/sort quickly, and don't slow down or freeze. Everything is smooth and very easy to use. There are a places in the UI where you can forget how to get there, but other than that everything is great. We have had no issues using any part of the website.
Tech prod support is great! I did have to ask for a new customer success rep, needed a more experienced person to match my 12 years of experience running Cybersec training programs. Would suggest that more matching of rep level of knowledge to client level knowledge would help.
It has been difficult at sometimes, the support people at one point told me that they couldn't tell me information about OfficeScan because it was knowledge that was passed down from engineer to engineer. The issue was that if you used the msi for the install any further installs would require the msi to have the same exact name or else the install fails and corrupts the install. This information is not listed anywhere on trends website. Support kept trying to get me to use the exe for installs instead, but we use SCCM and msi's work better. We had to write a script to come up with a solution so that we could uninstall the software and install the new software. Trend did provide the technical expertise to help with the script and had us work with one of the developers in order to resolve that issue. So they did fix their screw up but it took a while and several complaints.
They were so nice and easy to understand. They helped us with anything we didnt comprehend and made sure we understood each aspect. I would definitely recommend the in-person training for your staff that are going to be over implementing the software.
They explained implementation in detail and were readily available for any questions we had. The training was screen-shared and we could see what the instructor was doing as they were explaining. This really helped us to get a grip on how to handle it. I would use this training for all staff that will be over other staff, such as principles etc.
The implementation went really well and KnowBe4 was there the whole time on setup to make sure things were setup correctly. The only thing we had to figure out on our own was to script users automatically being added to security groups. So that when they sync to knowBe4 from AD they are placed into the same/correct groups.
KnowBe4 Security Awareness Training has a better platform for SAT than Proofpoint SAT and the templates are great. I compared these in 2020-2021, around the time when it was called Wombat. One nice thing that Proofpoint's SAT had is that if you also had their email security platform, it would integrate nicely.
For me, Trend Micro Apex One with its low performance is the best option at the time to buy a solution like this, with its flexibility through on-premises or saas deployment options you can choose the option that best fix to you, has an advanced automated threat detection and response against an ever-growing variety of threats.
Reasonable per head pricing, although on the higher side when we go to scale. We have over 5000 employees including casual teachers used in schools. Would like the opportunity to negotiate better enterprise terms for our system. Overall, the impact of training justifies our move to KnowBe4 Security Awareness Training as our preferred cyber training provider.
The product scales greatly. As long as you upgrade the license to support the number of users you are needing, adding in those new users is easy. Also getting those users set up with trainings/campaigns is very easy as well
The team was great to work with and took their time to ensure that we knew what we were doing with the product and that it was set up to meet the specific needs of our organization. This wasn't just a cookie-cutter deployment, but rather they focused specifically on our needs.
Our corporate culture has changed dramatically where they now take security very seriously and respond to security notifications and training positively instead of seeing it as an annoying distraction.
We have seen a 30% improvement in our company's security awareness test results from the day we started which is HUGE.
Since the product is a full suite of protection rolled into a single product, we've seen ROI through cost reduction and simplified management. And while we haven't measured performance, one would logically assume that systems will perform better with a single product installed vs several.
