I quite like Jira Product Discovery for the easy to use interface and integration into Jira Projects. It's not a generalist tool like Miro.
Chose Miro
I have not used another program like Miro, but now that I know about this, I will be keen to continue using the program across any and all potentially suitable industries.

Miro ranks very well with Asana and MURAL and surpasses Notion and Product board in terms of whiteboard capabilities.
However, I have not yet utilized project collaboration features of workflow, agile/kanban methodologies within Miro (if they even exist) so I cannot compare …

As a virtual collaboration tool its awesome- Every team meeting we have, the relevant miro board is opened and actively added to. As a final design tool its not so good. Its limited in what can be built within Miro. (I don't feel thats the intention of the tool)

The best feature of productboard is organized features, it has a very simple structure and can be read and understood by anyone. If your roadmap is very dynamic and the executive team needs to be on top of it, productboard is the best application out there. But if you have a small product and features do not change very often, then maybe you can look at other alternatives since productboard is expensive.

Cons
Miro
  • I'd like to see the ability to link data or cards between boards to create dynamic dashboards
  • An auto locking feature, or a feature to lock everything that is not a notecard to prevent accidental movements
  • Being able to see the layers or create layers rather than just send to back or front - this could be improved

  • Far too expensive per seat
  • No way to track/manage projects
  • No way to abstract sets of features into larger buckets for high-level presentations

There is no other tool like Miro for process Mapping in particular. I've tried PowerPoint, Word, and other programs, but when collaborating virtually on how to improve a process, Miro has all of the tools and more to enable successful mapping. The colors, different types of shapes and text books, along with the ability to integrate different documents and other functionality, make it ideal for this purpose. In a virtual world, it's a must-have.

Usability
Miro
It's pretty easy to use. My gripes are with some small idiosyncrasies with selection behavior with objects and editing text. When I move an object, it automatically de-selects it when I am not done with it. I have to click to select again. Text control is challenging and could be improved. It could use a little more styling capability. It's also weird that it behaves differently in a shape then when using the text tool.

Reliability and Availability
Miro
I only give a 9/10 because of the speed at which it loads. I have never experienced issues with Miro logging me out early, or some other technical issue causing the program to crash, or even it just loading in perpetuity without ever actually coming up (unlike other programs such as SFDC). It take a minute for all of my boards to come up after I click on it in my favorites, but besides that, it's all good.

Performance
Miro
I took the loading quickly to be related to availability which I commented on before, so ditto with those comment on load time here. Although to reemphasize, Miro doesn't crash or just refuse to load like some other programs. The weak point of Miro for me is integration of files like Word, Excel, or PowerPoint (especially the later two). When you embed these, it gets slow, and complicated to bring them up while you're in the application.

Online Training
Miro
Superb. very well explained videos. Really helps get the knowledge up on the product. The slides are divided into the topics of usage. I have enjoyed following and implementing all of these slides. The videos are well explained and it is easy to follow. There are tutorials that you can take yourself later. It would be nice however if more training modules were added.

Implementation Rating
Miro
The key aspects about implementing Miro that really made the entire implementation journey so smooth was how it integrated swiftly into our existing working infrastructure which included direct integration with most of the products we were already using. Customization of Miro to match the specifications of our needs was also easily possible.

I prefer Miro over all, but then will use certain tools for specific use cases: Lucid - process work Menti - interactive polling and facilitated sessions UserVoice - crowdsourcing Trello - kanban boards (although Miro is pretty good with this too) Slido - live polling and facilitations.

Productboard has a modern interface with a great user experience that will help you get onboard really fast especially if you are looking for one place to handle customer insights that are coming from different places and be able to score and report under value vs effort frameworks, and build roadmap views for different stakeholders for the company.

Scalability
Miro
Miro is great for scaling. In every department and subdivision across my entire organization, there is someone using it. From Sales to marketing, to manufacturing and operations; and even in legal and finance, there isn't a process or a department that is not using Miro, and if they aren't, they're missing out! Even at the highest to the lowest levels of the organization, it is essential for virtual collaboration.

  • Remote - we can host our diverse teams from all over the world in quick productive meetings without paying for travel
  • Miro has helped me design for over 8 enterprise product teams

  • ProductBoard is expensive, per user/month so ROI is not that great
  • It is very useful the organization to view the roadmap
  • It is mainly useful if someone dedicated (depending on the size of the product) is keeping it updated.
