When you are working to build a self-service data culture in an organization, sigma excels. If you are only going to have data engineers and scientists working on datasets, you may be better served by something that fits their needs more. If you don't have visualization or bi needs, Sigma may be overkill for your needs.

Zoho Analytics is well suited to create quick reports and dashboards for daily use, share with your team, or when you need to give a professional look at that presentation. With the data imported into Zoho Analytics, you can create dynamic charts to get quick insights and put them all together in a presentation or dashboard.

Pros

Sigma

  • The ability to slice/dice large datasets and join to other datasets in a very intuitive and easy manner. In other tools (e.g. Excel), the performance would be much slower.
  • Create dashboards that can contain many different visual aids that link to different datasets created in Sigma. These dashboards look great and perform really well with large datasets. On a performance basis, Sigma performs better than Tableau with large datasets in my experience.
  • Ability to load external datasets and join them to existing datasets in Sigma.

Zoho Analytics

  • Very good bang for the buck, especially if you pre-handle your data before uploading so you're not reliant on the Zoho SQL syntax of raw tables and have fewer, wider rows.
  • Reasonable assortment of chart types.
  • Usable design surface, especially for a fully web based system.
  • Reasonably intuitive organization of content types.
  • Nice handling of aggregation functions.

  • The user interface had at least one big change in the past two years, which was confusing.
  • I would like to be able to create and run report on the fly, instead of having to schedule them.
  • Better navigation using tabs and menus.

  • Reports was challenging to understand initially and some of their documents were out of date so importing did not work.
  • It would be nice if the importing instructions were a little more clear for the layman as not all businesses can have an IT department or the like to set up software like this.
  • Due to insufficient descriptions, it can be unclear as to what a report is describing or displaying to you.

I feel 8 rating represents the good and clean UI they have. Segregation of reports , dashboards and views is great. The feature to auto generate analytical report using Zoho’s smart AI was an excellent feature.
However, I deducted 2 points because I feel the still lack some dashboard elements, some features like adding extra filter to KPI widgets, use of window function in query table could make the Zoho Analytics an awesome choice.

Support team is helpful in answering questions and providing help with using the UI. There are knowledgeable people within the support team.There are also good online support tools. There are significant community support resources available.There is however lack of a live support. It would be useful to have live phone number or chat to use.

We got rid of Looker because of the difficulty with LookML and the general not-user friendly approach to reporting. The other systems were either too expensive, missing functionality such as embedding reports, or just didn't have the features and functionality of Sigma.

Zoho Analytics

Very powerful charts and graphs that are much easier to use than Excel. It's like a pivot table combined with a chart. I love the ability to dynamically change the charts just by turning data sets on and off in order to drill down and analyze individual data sets without having to create dozens of new charts.

The integrations allow for multiple third-party sources to sync with the software and allow for interactions that visualize the data. The data is stored in the cloud and has millions of rows of storage available to grow and evolve as needed.
