Price and easy of setup plus connection setup is better with Splashtop [SOS]

Prior to Splashtop, I was a big advocate of using LogMeIn's product. However, LogMeIn's products have been unaffordable since the merger with Citrix. In my experience and evaluation, TeamViewer's line of products has been difficult to use even on a good day. My evaluations …

Splashtop Business Enterprise is actually easier to implement and get it up and running, all users have to do is download the standard or personalize file and run it, then share the code with you and you are all set to go, i like it because you can even do it from your phone if …

Simply put, Splashtop SOS works. The remote control feature of SOTI's MobiControl just didn't work for us. We spent countless hours working with SOTI to get additional apps to support remote control for various Lenovo tablets. It was a huge burden and it just didn't work. TeamV…
Chose Splashtop
Splashtop Enterprise was easier for our clients to use than LogMeIn Rescue that we used to use. It is a more lightweight and robust feeling software. The biggest benefit for us was the cost of Splashtop vs LogMeIn.

TeamViewer is good for IT support individual remote computers, when doing connection, what we need is only remote party's ID and password, no other authentication is needed. The authentication is verbally over the phone when IT talks to the supported customers. However, this is …

I prefer TeamViewer but it costs a lot more. We do also use TeamViewer for unattended access but the cost is so great that we might look at alternatives when our license expires. If the price was not an issue I would pick TeamViewer Quick Support over Splashtop SOS but for …
Chose Splashtop
cost, it is only a fraction of the cost of TeamViewer, also, same number of features for remote desktop but more new features for remote IT management of the computers with the client installed. No brainer.
Chose Splashtop
TeamViewer and Logmein were just to expensive, VNC has issues with windows 10 and RDP requires port forwarding in the router, so its fine for servers, but not ideal as a remote support system. Splashtop was easier or cheaper than anything else we tried.
Chose Splashtop
  • Team viewer is expensive
  • Chrome Remote Desktop is hard to use at times, makes the screen smaller, and is hard to use on multi-user screens
  • Windows Remote Desktop does not let you sign in as the local user
Chose Splashtop
After evaluating several possible remote support products, Splashtop SOS represented the best value for money to a small business owner. This was largely due to its tiered licensing structure, with the base Splashtop SOS solution providing all the features I needed. This …
Chose Splashtop
[In my experience] TeamViewer is just too expensive for what I consider marginal benefit. Splashtop SOS works incredibly well, and while [I feel] TeamViewer does have a performance edge, I just can't justify the massive increase in cost. Plus, to my knowledge, TeamViewer's …

Competitors did not have the same great level of performance. Had more disconnects with those as well.
Chose Splashtop
It's certainly not as feature rich or the same level of remote management system, but Splashtop SOS is a fraction of the cost and does exactly what I need it to do.
Chose Splashtop
Cost is the best competing factor.
Chose Splashtop
I have not looked at TeamViewer in quite some time but I found Splashtop SOS for me to be at least a 1 to 1 feature switch. And right now connecting to mobile devices to see a customers screen is included with Splashtop SOS and it is a real value add. I hope it says that way. …
Chose Splashtop
Splashtop SOS is similar [for remote control and support] to N-able RMM, and TeamViewer. The selection of Splashtop SOS is primarily for cost control.
Chose Splashtop
I find that Splashtop SOS is as easy or easier to use. LogMeIn was a very great deal more expensive and I would not be able to regain much return on that investment.
Chose Splashtop
Splashtop SOS is significantly more affordable than its competitors for smaller operations like ours. The base subscription is more than adequate for our use, whereas most competitors overkill single-user capacity. Additionally, competitive products frequently restrict the …

For any organization that is looking for an easily administered remote desktop solution, perhaps remote access for employees, or for remote IT support, I would say to look no further than Splashtop. If you have a large team, the price definitely increases, but they do offer a discount on bulk licensure (20% on 4 or more accounts, 25% on 10 or more accounts).

Pros
Splashtop
  • Splashtop lets me see what my clients see.
  • Splashtop usually works even when my client's computer isn't in great shape. I can sometimes do things remotely that an onsite user cannot.
  • Splashtop lets me work on many computers from one location, without leaving my own desk.
  • Splashtop allows me to serve clients who are hundreds and even thousands of miles away. I can do work for people I've never met.
  • My clients can usually install Splashtop by themselves, preventing the need for a costly and time consuming site visit.
  • Splashtop lets me create installation links for remote access that have been configured specifically to my particular needs and the needs of my clients.

Cons
Splashtop
  • Web Access should be available to all Splashtop Versions so support personnel do not need to have their laptop with them or Executable on USB Drive etc..
  • Remote access and scaling of screens sometimes is very difficult and have to resort to using keyboard commands to Navigate a screen because the mouse does not show where it is accurately on the remote screen no matter what changes you make on the client although I think this has been improving.
  • Intermittent loss of streamer access and showing that a system is online in the Dashboard has been flakey lately. What I mean by this is systems show offline then they come back online their own then offline again - intermittent

Splashtop
I believe that I will renew Splashtop without any problems in the coming years as eating stable costs without increases even in critical periods such as the Covid virus, Splashtop allows access to 25 unattended stations and has continuous updates and new features. It also allows resale to users with sub-accounts

Usability
Splashtop
It's hard to find any significant faults with Splashtop. It offers a very responsive remote access experience with clear and simple interface. There's very little learning curve as it's toolbar mimics other popular remote access solutions graphical user interface. It's gives you access to your remote computer quickly and stays out of your way

Reliability and Availability

I've never had any issues with it, nor any connectivity issues. They always say when they'll be maintaining the system and it's always in the odd hours, so nobody uses then. But I've never had any issues.

Pages and servers load fast, normal speed. It doesn't lag or anything like that. I don't integrate it with anything else.

Support Rating
Splashtop
Tickets lingered in the support queue. Our environment is complex and some solutions never work in it but inconsistency and long turn around time on seemingly simple support issues force our pursuit of alternative solutions. Our environment is atypical and should not be used as a litmus test for solutions however we found the support issues were more wide spread with other orgs voicing the same delays.

It couldn't have been any easier to setup and I have had no issues with it since it was implemented. It's a great product and makes remotely connecting to another device so simple and quick. I can't recommend it enough

Return on Investment
Splashtop
  • It has made supporting remote workers seamless and easier if we did not have it.
  • Has saved a lot of time that would have been spent trying to get users to accurately describe their issue.
  • Easy enough to use that even someone who isn't super tech savvy can use if needs be.
