Overall Satisfaction with Splashtop

We were a ConnectWise customer but disillusioned by its terrible performance over the last couple of years. Before we let it renew we decided to look at alternatives. Good performance was a must, as was M365 SSO authentication. Splashtop checked all of the boxes, and the performance is AMAZING compared to ScreenConnect. Two departments here (IT and Production) use it to access on prem computers as well as all staff laptops for support.

Pros

  • It's fast. Almost like sitting at the physical machine
  • It "just works". Install is easy and it doesn't "get in the way" of other apps
  • Price is competitive to what we were already paying

Cons

  • Compared to our prior solution, Splashtop does not "organize" devices nearly as well. They need some some sort of tagging solution so that you can, say, pull up a list of "all machines at this campus" or "All Macs at this site"
  • The Business App that runs locally feels clunky, and is presented in a weirdly-sized window
  • Our prior solution had become so unstable and poor performing that we couldn't provide good technical support with it. Splashtop lets us just get in and get work done.
  • We didn't have to spend a lot more to get a better product, we just had to switch.
We have not used technical support to solve a problem, yet, but support while onboarding was excellent. They made the transition smooth and painless.
Splashtop seems to check all of the boxes regarding security. We're new and don't have a lot to go on here, but everything we've seen and read indicates they care about security and implement it using industry best practices.
Onboarding was painless. They let us demo the product a sufficient time, then helped us get the initial config up and running in no time.
Yes - ConnectWise ScreenConnect. This product used to be great, but over the past few years we noticed quality slipping, particularly around performance and stability. To this day you cannot scroll a remote machine using a Mac *trackpad* on the controlling machine without it resulting in bizarre, unpredictable scrolling behavior. They have known about this issue for at least 2 years but have been unable or unwilling to fix it. The client is also prone to crashing.

Do you think Splashtop delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Splashtop's feature set?

Yes

Did Splashtop live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Splashtop go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Splashtop again?

Yes

Great for an IT department's remote access into any machine they control, whether it be a physical computer, a VM server, or an end user Laptop. We wouldn't use it for end user access to on site machines because of cost (it would get too expensive to get that many simultaneous licenses)... but we don't have that need, anyway.
