Simple Storage Service that does a lot more than just providing simple storage for you
- S3 can be a really great service for a company if used properly. We have had troubles related to billing because we had not spent some time understanding the pricing. Understand costs that will be incurred in setting up your system in a way that inter-regional data transfer will happen, or a lot of old versions of objects are stored.
- S3 basically takes away all the maintenance headache of storing your data in cloud. It is durable, scalable and reliable. So, it saves a lot of resources that would be otherwise wasted accomplishing all that. You do not have to worry about servers and the capacity you need to provision for them. S3 takes care of all that for you.
- S3 integrates seamlessly with many other services. My personal favorite is where we use a trigger of S3 upload to invoke a lambda function to process the contents and raise an alarm if there is a validation error. This simple set up will be relatively difficult to implement if you were to use simple servers to store your data.

AWS S3 is powerful and fast, but it comes at a cost
- S3 has helped us usefully version and archive static content, and once we got that up and running the ongoing maintenance costs and effort have been quite low.
- S3's interactions with CloudFront, on the other hand, are often counter-intuitive and resulted in us abandoning a project to make use of CloudFront partway through.

Amazon S3: An Easy and Efficient Cloud Storage Option
- It practically eliminated some real heavy storage servers from our premises and reduced maintenance cost.
- The excellent durability and reliability make sure the return of money you invested in.
- If the objects which are not active or stale, one needs to remove them. Those objects keep adding cost to each billing cycle. If you are handling a really big infrastructure, sometimes this creates quite a huge bill for preserving un-necessary objects/documents.

Easiest blob storage out there
- S3 is extremely cheap, and we are able to host our entire data warehouse there.

Top Marks for S3 Storage and Websites
- S3 is such a great way to store things, it's a little hard to measure all the benefits against the other options (Dropbox, hard drives in laptops etc), but it gives a simple place to store pretty much anything.
- We did replace a traditional LEMP-stack website service with static website hosting in S3 + javascript. This vastly reduced our running costs as we turned all the websites EC2 instances and Load Balancers off. It also meant we didn't have to look after or maintain autoscaling strategies anymore because S3 handles the scaling for us.

You know you're supposed to use S3. Just do it.
- S3 has a direct impact on ROI because it lowers your overall hosting budget. You will pay pennies on the dollar to host your larger files as S3 over your compute nodes. Especially when you consider all the additional backup storage, image storage, and uptime requirements of keeping files online where your compute nodes are.
- If you ever want to have server clusters, where do you think you're going to store your static assets? Yep, S3. No brainer again – now you can scale.
- I'll throw one more bone out here for this – you can literally distribute s3 files to a global CDN (CloudFront) with just a few clicks of a button. That kind of speed can have an immediate return on investment for international customers.

Amazon S3 the goto storage spot
- Regarding the websites, it has been a great ROI we have them all in one location which makes it easy to get too and fast in case of a failure and we need to quickly rebuild the site.
- Using it for our BLOB's on our escrow side of the house the ROI is based on being able to have it in a secure location which is easy to get too and fast when the application needs to access it to build a file.
