What TrustRadius Research Says

Mimecast Pricing 2022

Email is one of the most integral forms of business communication today. It’s where many companies conduct sensitive conversations, and it needs strong protection. Cyber criminals are always looking to exploit email for valuable intel and data. It’s extremely important to find a cybersecurity and antivirus solution specifically for your emails. Mimecast is a complex and powerful option for small businesses that need extensive security.

What Is Mimecast?

The Mimecast email security software was developed for identifying and eliminating security threats. These email threats can include spear-phishing, malware, ransomware, and other malicious attacks to defraud you or steal your data. Mimecast can also help you keep your inbox from being clogged with spam or solicitation emails.

Mimecast has a variety of cybersecurity services available, such as security training and data retention. The main features of their Email Security and Resilience product are built for secure messaging. They have high-end security with built-in AI detection. Its functionality incorporates email encryption and cyber resilience, and impersonation protection. The platform also has features for workflow needs like email continuity and email archiving.

The software has two subscriptions with different deployment options, but one is not available yet. The currently-available Email Security (Gateway) plan is designed for very intricate email systems. It offers both on-premise and hybrid environments for preferred email providers like Gmail or Microsoft Outlook. The platform has an open API for easy integration with other security tools, as well as advanced administration options.

The Email Secure (Express) subscription option is not available for teams, but will be at a later date. It has many of the same features as Email Secure Gateway like easy integrations and administration capabilities. They are a cloud solution specifically for Microsoft 365 applications and high speed deployment for setup.

Mimecast holds an impressive 3.86% of the market, and is trusted primarily by medium to small businesses. Common industries using Mimecast as their email security solution include finance, IT, construction, and healthcare.

How Much Does Mimecast Cost?

Unfortunately, Mimecast offers zero upfront pricing. You will need to request a quote to get any pricing. Instead, we can talk about customer satisfaction with this anti-spam software using information provided by end-user reviews.

We are going to focus on impressions from their email security product. If you want to learn more about their other cybersecurity software, you can find their product suite here. For reviews of other Mimecast products, check out our vendor page for them here.

Overall, Mimecast has mostly positive reviewer feedback for their email security product. They have a trScore of 8.8/10 and won the Top Rated award for their software in 2020.

Their positive reviews also offer multifaceted, constructive feedback. This means that even though the companies that use Mimecast give them high ratings of 7s and 9s, there will always be areas where happy users want more improvement. Looking through these reviews is a great way to find out if they will or won’t meet some of your key needs.

The general positive feedback they receive is for features like sandboxing, anti-spam, and security. One end-user wrote, “...We love how Mimecast detects and removes malicious attachments.”

Another had a lot to say about their attachment protection: “Mimecast filters and checks every URL which allows a double check for malicious links. Each link is redirected through the Mimecast platform and if it is malicious the user is prohibited from accessing it.”

When it comes to negative issues, users tend to report the learning curve, customer support, and user interface. One user noted they were “not a fan of their interface yet,” and that it’s “a complex product, so more training resources is always appreciated.[sic]”

The collective impressions for Mimecast show real satisfaction with functionality and performance for main features. The downside can be the initial learning curve, depending on the team. If you do need more support from there, it’s important to know that some teams have struggled with receiving the support they need, but that doesn’t mean you will. Mimecast’s phone support has been noted to be better than their email support, with one user writing, “I would be very frustrated if I didn't opt for the option for phone support.”
