I use Octopus to automatically send connection requests with a generalized connection message to individuals in my field of work. I work in sales, so LinkedIn prospecting is a good alternative avenue to emails. Once people connect with me I then customize further messages in hopes of getting a meeting with them to discuss the service I'm selling.

Octopus works hand in hand with LinkedIn Sales Nav. I will save people from leads from Sales Nav and then import those leads into Octopus to automate connection requests.
