For our professional customers, where reliability is a top priority, the small fee of oracle subscription much more valuable than the many free platforms available for the returned value. We use it for many deployments, mostly for high-value solutions, where every small detail matters. We use it for on-premise servers and a few cloud instances too.
  • High-value server deployments, which requires the most reliable technologies available
  • For on-premise backend servers
  • Some smaller cloud solutions
  • The payment itself is hard to describe sometimes with so many free alternative available
  • Subscription ends will make app unusable without switching to openJDK
This depends on the requirement. Deeply-routed Oracle stack should aim for this on the long run - small startup companies looking for small initial costs should look for other solutions first, and maybe migrate later. OpenJDK is good, but not as reliable as Oracle Java SE. The provided high quality support is something what premium and mission-critical projects and companies should look for.

The Java system which allows you to have a subscription where we can use different tools as the main language, the interface and a variety of services to be able to program successfully.
It also offers us a Wide Interface where we have different Languages to add codes and make different programs, the system works in a simple way in order to offer great results.
  • A clean System
  • Simple Interface
  • Expensive
The service is used in a specific scenario at the time of the program, because we can do it with more freedom and it maintains all the JAVA language, and in circumstances it can be a great ally for us in case errors occur, or others the system supports the solution.

I am part of a large consumer goods and electronics client across the world. In my organization, Oracle Java [is] extensively used in many projects as programming languages. We also use Java to create our reusable framework. For our client's requirement, Oracle Java SE Subscription solves all our problems as it doesn't depend on any operating [system] and/or version.
  • Overall design.
  • Platform independent.
  • Adaptability with various versions of operating systems.
  • Java virtual machine.
  • Support has to be improved.
  • There are many already reported bug/issues not yet solved.
  • Try reducing the syntax based coding.
Oracle Java SE Subscription will be well suited for projects which need more reusability and also platform independence. Banking and insurance related projects [may] prefer Java for security and data privacy. Oracle Java is less appropriate for the project which doesn't require much reusability [or] for small projects/companies [that] need to invest in license procurement also.

We use JAVA SE for Project Development across all departments and users in the organization.
It is installed in most of our servers and systems of the organization to maintain push updates. It allows us to develop products using technology stack with high security, durability and large support base across the world
  • Integration with multiple applications
  • Frequents updates available
  • Highly secure
  • Easy support available
  • Subscription fee high
  • Pricey certification
  • Heavy for system with low memory
JAVA SE Subscription is best suited for projects which need heavy customizations and scalability because of its compatibility with vast tech stacks

Java SE Subscription is used across our organization and it helps in timely updating the security directly from the Oracle. It [also] helps in cloud deployment issues. Spending cost over upgrading can be reduced easily by managing Java platform with Java Subscription. JAVA FX doesn't need [an] extra support contract if we have Java SE Subscription. We also use Oracle Java SE Subscription to enhance our legacy application to the new environments.
  • Helps in accessing updates directly from My Oracle Support.
  • Cost is effectively managed.
  • Java SE Subscription includes JDK and JRE.
  • Easy Java Naming Scheme.
  • User Interface feels like little old. UI can be made attractive.
  • Sometimes building project takes more time than usual.
  • Low memory systems are not best suited.
  • Set up is complicated for new user.
Pros : Java SE Subscription is well suited in cloud deployment, server, and desktop. It [is] easy creating many Java applications with [the] best customer support.

Cons : User Interface is not attractive. Project building time takes a little longer time than usual. Certification's cost is little high. Complex support framework. Installation process is tricky for new user.

It is being used on a Web server to enable all staff to use a web-enabled application (Guidewire).
  • Provides timely security updates for the product
  • Notifications on new product releases
  • Signing up for the Subscription was a confusing process and could be streamlined, it took several days to contacting several people to get the access we needed.

Oracle Java SE Subscription is used to manage and control enterprise-wide Java deployments through the Advanced Management Console (AMC). This allows the process to be seamless and effective. It is also used to resolve existing and limit future application issues with Java Flight Recorder (JFR) and Java Mission Control (JMC). It is used by the whole organization to my knowledge.
  • Secure platform for programming
  • Reliable
  • Deploying enterprise applications
  • Price
  • Compatibility with other applications
  • Notification for when there is an upgrade
It is suitable for any company in my opinion. It is suitable for cloud deployments. The support group is good. The pricing may be worth it based on number of users.

In our organization, Oracle Java SE Subscription is being used across our [entire] organization as we have different requirements and clients across the world. We are working for [a] consumer electronics company to create their end to end application where it requires multi-level security and platform independence for the hassle free user experience. [The] main business problem we are solving here is creating a secured application.
  • Support.
  • Oracle Java SE has a high return on investment (ROI).
  • Higher rate of client retention (Earning more clients because of reusability)
  • User friendly.
  • It has good support, but their support framework has to be improved.
  • Installation should be improved.
  • Expecting more new features.
  • Need more certification.
For well suited scenarios, I can take the example of our project for [a] consumer electronics client where it's a platform independent application [that] also needs various levels of security as this application [is] also enabled with payment services. It is less appropriate for the projects where data privacy and security are not the primary concern for the client or the project. For the small projects the reusability of the product is limited.

Oracle Java SE Subscription is being used in our development and quality assurance department, where we build business management software and their automation applications with Oracle and Java QA tools. The choice of Oracle Java SE Subscription was obvious, as it is operating-system independent and as we have to deal with Oracle-based tools on machines with Windows, iOS, and Android for application development. We use Oracle Java SE Subscription for applying automated machine-oriented Java updates, security patches against trending vulnerabilities, and system-based subscription to meet our organizational needs.
  • Availability for all OS
  • Automatic selection of required Oracle subscriptions as per machine needs
  • Regular updates with increased security against latest online threats
  • Heavy for systems with low memory
Oracle Java SE Subscription is best when you are developing some new machine software and applications with minimal operating system dependency and developers are not sure about which required Java product to get subscribed to under industry and system requirements. That's how we get the most out of it or else we may waste too many resources.

Oracle Java SE Subscription plays a fundamental role in the Research and Development section of our organization, especially for the Development Teams working on an information technology platform. We use the Java SE Subscription application for processing of Oracle platform automated subscriptions, related updates on systems, and providing security patches on client machines. The application has enabled us to remotely monitor the systems and providing timely updates and security maintenance to avoid unwanted threats.
  • User friendly manager tool for support technicians.
  • Timely process of required subscription and upgrades as per policy requirements.
  • Simplified remote maintenance on multiple machines.
  • Costs of per user subscription is higher.
Java is considered the backbone of the information technology-related research and development for years and it still provides the most security services as compared to other program development platforms. Java SE Subscription is a must-have program. If any organization or department is working in an environment of Oracle and Java-based programming to keep things smoothly running and updated under one control.

It is used by various departments in my organization. We are part of Procurement domain project where all the applications need end to end encryption and/or security. We use Oracle Java to ensure that. Oracle Java [is] also very suitable for our project as Java is platform independent. In our department, we also work with cloud applications as well. Java ensures the compatibility.
  • Oracle directly provides access to performance, stability and security updates.
  • Past version updates are also included in this subscription.
  • Management and Deployment features are also added in it.
  • It has a simple pricing policy.
  • Product Usage is limited to very few end users.
  • Subscription costs are bit high.
  • Common users are not [very] aware of this product.
It is useful for large organizations having complex IT infrastructures. By this application, IT maintenance becomes easier and well suited in this domain. This application environment is not suitable for common users who have lesser knowledge about it. One who has greater insight using Java must have this subscription to use the entire features of this application.

We don't have Oracle Java SE Subscription installed on all the systems of the organization but few departments like IT support and software research and development sections have covered partially with it. The benefits we have got since the inception of Java SE Subscription are of great worth and we are planning to cover more machines with it in coming days. We are using Java SE Subscription for maintenance of all systems for Oracle products version controls, applying patches and security updates in accordance with departmental and user's job requirements.
  • Make job easier for IT technicians and remote support assistants.
  • Easy installation and integration process for security patch and update.
  • Frequent updates with technology needs.
  • Native package management tool is missing.
For IT-related infrastructures and departmental sections working on applications management and development, Oracle Java SE Subscription has a great significance for smooth and sustainable working with controlled industry requirement patches and updates. It is also very helpful for java version controls as per the user's job-based requirements. It is not required on systems that don't have Java-based applications and related job requirements.

Oracle Java SE Subscription is a significant tool for research and development section of our organization and plays an important role in application development and organizing oracle related security updates on machines. Being the part of support engineering team I am happy with the services of Java SE Subscription as it efficiently handles all Oracle related subscriptions and updates.
  • Efficiently handles Oracle subscriptions
  • Push updates on multiple machines at once
  • Very helpful for application development
  • Price is somehow little high
  • Compatibility with applications outside Oracle is not great
Java SE Subscription is a must have application for the teams use Oracle family tools for their research and development projects and specially for the people who are in professions of java based software and application development. It could be very helpful for android programmers through it's patching capabilities. Not great for the machines and tools and which doesn't rely on Oracle products.

Oracle Java SE Subscription is one of the core applications in our organization as a telecom service provider, and it is used and integrated in all our functional devices for smooth back-end security and Oracle-related configurations. Oracle Java SE Subscription has helped us to create auto-subscription loops and patches for many key functional applications at the data end.
  • Smooth configuration and integrations at back-end support
  • Secure and protective tunnel for remote machines
  • User console is bit complicated
  • Subscription price for individual user is high
Oracle Java SE Subscription is the backbone for IT development and one of the main ingredients for backup support, software and web development, and data-end security patches for medium and big businesses. I would highly recommend Oracle Java SE Subscription for organizations that are largely involved in IT and telecommunication services.

There is a variety of Oracle products that are being used by our organization and Oracle Java SE Subscription is also one of those. It is installed across the organization to handle the subscriptions and updates for Oracle family applications. We have had a great experience so far with Oracle Java SE Subscription and it has lived up to our expectations. We mainly use Oracle Java SE Subscription for the subscriptions control, to push updates, and for software development under the Java umbrella.
  • Application and software development
  • Companywide push updates
  • Subscription controls
  • Security patching
  • Cost
  • More frequent updates than actually needed
Oracle Java SE Subscription is well suited for medium to large organizations that deal heavily in IT and telecommunication development. This is the best tool for developing and testing Android and Windows applications in a secured environment and additionally helps to develop security patches on our organization's remote machines without any hassle. Cost would be an issue to consider for small business suitability of Oracle Java SE Subscription.

[Oracle] Java SE [Subscription] is used in the whole organization but I am aware of the specific use in our department. We build enterprise applications with Java specifically, we build microservices for consumption in Angular/React frontend. Java is our platform of choice due to highly supportive developer community, secure runtime environment and feature rich frameworks.
  • Secure runtime environment for application
  • Highly optimized
  • We can explicitly allow memory to the java. Making it appropriate for high memory use cases
  • Code can be run in any platform due jvm
  • Lack of native package manager though maven and gradle do the job really well.
Teams that build enterprise applications for medium to large scale organization should opt for [Oracle Java SE Subscription]. Java provides a secure runtime to protect important enterprise data. It has great frameworks such as spring with highly active community.
Recently, our organization has also started using java se for big data tasks using spark. Scala is a big player in that domain but Java has great support for spark as well.

Oracle Java SE Subscription is arguably the most important and essential part of our system hierarchy and there are variety of subscriptions and applications are based upon Java patches. It is installed in all systems and servers of the organization to maintain push updates and user based subscriptions from back end support. It has helped a lot in maintaining and keeping systems and servers updated under java family and related synchronizations.
  • Best customer support and community help.
  • Variety of applications and subscriptions are handled with single push.
  • Helpful in creating java based applications with ease.
  • Complex setup and settings.
  • End users are not well informed about push updates and variant changes.
[Oracle] Java SE subscription is well suited for advanced software and application developers and have great features for helping big organizations to manage large number of end users from support teams. Java is used as a primary programming language on the mid-range infrastructure in our company to develop business critical applications in the Claims, Enrollment, Member and Customer services domain. It is also the main implementation vehicle to implement micro-services architecture. Oracle Java SE Subscription is used to cost effectively manage Java SE installations, updates, and upgrades across the enterprise.
  • Performance, stability, and security updates helps to deliver high quality solutions
  • Around-the-clock support for fast fixes and mission-critical applications helps to get product roll out on time
  • Access to Oracle Java SE 8 and 7 commercial features enables to develops complex solutions with less effort
  • Integration challenges with other COTS tools
  • Compilation may be slow as compared to other languages
  • Still lacks the features like Python or R have for data analysis
Most suitable for web based development specially web-services and standalone applications. Many of these development require open source libraries that are readily available and easy to integrate with no tedious effort. Licensing and support for cloud deployments makes it an ideal candidate for applications that can be migrated to the cloud. However, it needs to catch up with the machine learning use cases where it doesn't have the capabilities at par with Python, R or other equivalents.

We started with Oracle Java SE Subscription at the beginning of a project a little while back. It helped build a micro-service architecture that was being used by a growing company needing to update its platform. It has also been used in a few smaller projects. It allows us to build software using a technology base with a proven track record and large support base to keep the long term/big picture in mind.
  • Standardized
  • Lots of extensions
  • Central customer support
  • Price
  • Complexity
  • Code structure
If you are looking for a platform that will be widely accepted and has a lot of enterprise level plug-ins, Oracle Java SE Subscription would be a solution to consider. Additionally, if you are building a simple software solution and do not require a lot of licenses, Oracle Java SE Subscription would be applicable as well. It is not well-suited for niche or medium- to large-sized projects on multiple machines, given the new licensing model that would be needed. Smaller and niche fields don't always have Java plug-ins/libraries readily available, which could be difficult.

Our organization is currently moving to a lot of open-source technologies, and contributing back to the community. Oracle Java SE Subscription is the first open-source technology to be used and implemented across the organization. It enabled us to use existing tools/libraries to reach our goals faster. The help from the open-source community has been phenomenal. It changed how we approach an issue--reuse vs. implement!
  • Widely available libraries
  • Community support
  • Open source
  • Initial setup
Oracle Java SE Subscription is suitable for scalable/high-performing applications. There are tons of existing libraries, which are customizable, so one never really has to implement everything from scratch--just reuse/build on top of what's available. Community support is wonderful.

Oracle Java SE Subscription is used by my organization to currently manage all of our Java updates and installations. Anytime there is a new security patch or update that is required, the Oracle subscription is the tool to manage all of those tasks. It is currently being used by the Information Technology department. The main business problem it solves is the time resource of having to manage various installations and upgrades across a variety of servers.
  • Great User Interface
  • East installations/upgrades
  • Easily scalable
  • Cost effective
  • Cost - Price point of entry is a little high
  • Troubleshooting errors is quite tedious and time-consuming
  • Occasional bugs in upgrade/installation processes
Oracle Java SE Subscription is good for large-scale enterprise companies. The cost-effectiveness and time resource efficiency that comes with having this subscription is worth the cost (installations, upgrades, maintenance, ease of use, etc.). The scalability factor comes into the picture with large scale SE applications. This subscription is also great for developers/programmers that would better have their time used in developing applications and not maintaining some Java environment issues.

The areas where this is less suited are the following: smaller sized companies and less intensive applications. Lightweight applications may have performance hindered with this implementation.

Oracle Java SE Subscription is being used across the organization. We use it mostly in the EMR we have for our inpatients, although it is used for several other applications too. Several of our EMRs require it to run different applications in their software. We need to update it in order for it to function correctly.
  • Ease of use
  • Does work well with other appllications
  • Can be pushed out to all at once
  • Cost
  • Updates
  • Different versions create different issues
Their new cost structure is way too expensive. It is nowhere near worth the cost they charge. I am not sure how they determine the value of the product, but I think they need to look at the cost structure. For small hospitals, their new cost structure has make it almost unaffordable.

We use [Oracle] Java [SE Subscription] to seamlessly automate manual data for our clients. From billing solutions, to modern cloud implementation, [Oracle] Java SE [Subscription] helps our business solve many of the obstacles we face as a start-up. Our whole organization works collaboratively to effectively manage and update our business structure. The fact that this version of Java updates frequently is a huge plus as well.
  • Security info is up-to-date
  • Complex
  • Excellent community support
  • Certification is pricey
  • Very intricate UI
  • At times, required data isn’t available
Oracle Java SE [Subscription] is essential for a larger business seeking to scale and automate their business platform using the wide variety of tools it provides. Whether it’s online ordering, or managing consumer data, it works wonders for what it does as a whole. However, this wouldn’t be a good use for smaller scale applications and apps that use less API.
