What TrustRadius Research Says

UiPath Pricing 2022

One of the most common reasons teams slow down is simply having too much to do. As your business grows obviously there will come more tasks, but human beings can only handle so much work in a short amount of time.

Automation is the answer for menial, repetitive tasks that drag your team down and a great business solution is UiPath. They can help you streamline back office needs and restructure your workflow to leave breathing room.

What is UiPath?

The UiPath company provides services for the automation of business processes. They specialize in robotic process automation (RPA). The platform has a few different products such as The UiPath Platform, Automation Cloud, and Automation Suite. With their RPA tools, business users can automate processes to expedite or simplify daily workflow. You can use their ocular character recognition (OCR) for text mining and use their APPs tools to build custom apps for your team.

Teams will be able to eliminate repetitive tasks and focus their energy on more productive projects. Any RPA developer can learn how to use UiPath robots quickly because of their ease of use. They offer a codeless designer so you don’t have to develop from scratch.

Common use cases for the UiPath RPA platform include companies in IT, computer software, financial services, and insurance. In the RPA industry, UiPath holds 54% of the market share, dominating compared to competitors like BluePrism and WorkFusion.

UiPath also has great resources to help with training and implementation. They have the UiPath Community platforms for learning materials like the UiPath Academy, Community Blog, and certification program.

How Much Does UiPath Cost?

While UiPath has several different products, we will be looking at the platform's main featured plans and pricing. The UiPath pricing model offers 3 different plans. Each plan speaks to a different use case, but the free version is a good way to get started if lacking in key automation features.

The Pro plan effectively provides teams with robust automation features like Automation Cloud Robots. It’s misleading if you do the Pro Trial plan (a 60-day free trial), which has access to the Automation Hub. Only the Enterprise plan comes with the Automation Hub.

One really great RPA tool in all plans is the Automation Express no-code designer. With it, you can quickly build using its drag-and-drop user interface. Both the Free and Pro plan offer 25 free licenses for your team. The Enterprise plan comes with 100 free licenses. You will need to consult with sales to learn the additional license cost. Customer service for paid licenses comes with Standard Support. For more support plans go here.

One way to make the choosing process easier between plans is to look at some quick pros and cons for each option. If you want to see the full breakdown, UiPath offers a detailed comparison on their pricing page here.

Free Plan Pros

The main benefit to the Free subscription is that teams get 4 special features. These include Task Capture for sharing, Orchestrator for the scaled deployment of automation, Attended Robots, and integrations. There is also one admin role (called a Tenet) for organizing the structure of your workspace.

Free Plan Cons

Some of the big cons with this plan are there is zero support, and no advanced automation functionality aside from supervised bots. It’s a great way to try out the platform more long term and decide if the user interface and general feel are worth further pursuing. They do have the Pro Trial but again it offers more functionality than is actually in the Pro plan and is more of a teaser for the Enterprise subscription.

Pro Plan Pros

In Pro, teams get a vast improvement compared to Free. Teams can access UiPath Studio so they can build robots while setting governance rules for your department. In terms of scaled deployment, you can use their Data Service for no-code modeling and easy storage. You also get two new robot types; the Unattended Robots which are self-hosted and don’t require supervision and the Automation Cloud Robots for cross-platform automation.

For collaboration tools, the plan offers you a team low-code application development environment to build business applications to enrich your team functions. You can even track project workloads in the Action Center that supports long-term workflow between humans and robots.

Pro Plan Cons

While the Pro subscription is stacked with great automation tools there’s still a lot missing. You won’t have access to the Automation Hub for managing your automation pipeline or the Process Mining dashboard for deeper insight into business processes. You do get Standard Customer Support, but it’s through the product support form or customer portal. The customer portal only accesses the knowledge base.

Enterprise Plan Pros

Inside the Enterprise subscription teams get full access to robots tools and flexibility. One big change is this plan allows you the ability to choose to have their RPA software in an on-premises version.

Within the plan, you can add unlimited tenet roles for structuring workspaces, and take advantage of several high-end tools left out of Pro such as the Test Manager including full traceability of process, and Test Robots for test automation.

You’ll also have more analytics for automation performance along with Task Mining to look for more automation opportunities so you can continue to get rid of as many manual tasks as possible.

Enterprise Plan Cons

The downside for this plan is definitely the cost which is implied to be definitely higher than $420/mo like Pro. It’s also frustrating that Pro is missing so much in comparison to Enterprise that it definitely feels like end-user teams are being herded to the most expensive tier. Support isn’t upgraded from Standard unless you buy it separately, so it does not have extra help with all the new features.

UiPath Alternatives

A possible alternative for UiPath is Alteryx. They are an analytics process automation (APA) platform, not an RPA. Alteryx is primarily focused on data analytics, but they do offer high-end automation business solutions.

Both Alteryx and UiPath have capabilities for the automation of tasks, data mining, OCR, and low-code development. Alteryx’s Designer service has a drag-and-drop interface for no-code/low-code app building and is similar to UiPath low-code builder. The Intelligence Suite allows teams to develop machine learning models while UiPath Ai Center only lets teams manage and train ML models.

For more information on Alteryx pricing check out our long-form pricing here and their main pricing page here.

$2,300

While they both have comparable features and services, Alteryx is definitely pricier and more analytical. They actually can be used together as well because you can take Alteryx’s data analytics and upgrade the intelligence of your robots in UiPath. If you need to choose between them it comes down to what you need to automate. Alteryx can automate data analysis and UiPath can automate specific processes using robots.
