Overall Satisfaction with Absorb LMS

We use our LMS mainly for internal compliance. We work seasonally and our off-season work force is about 10% of in-season so we need to track all of their training.

Pros

  • Usable user interface
  • When a person is answering questions, they are usually very responsive (props to Luke L.!)

Cons

  • Admin dashboard is clunky - looking forward to updates and new widgets
  • Reports in both Absorb and Analyze default to including inactive courses and users (not in Absorb). This is SO ANNOYING.
  • Increased Compliance
  • Fewer complaints about the user interface
I've worked with LMS's that allowed for more flexibility on the admin side. There are a number of things that are surprisingly lacking from this LMS (i.e., automatically marking Equivalent courses as "Complete" -- what use is seeing that there is a link to another course?)
The user-side is easier to use. I wish we had more options for rows other than just "mandatory" and "featured." Incomplete would be huge.
  • Content Libraries (Absorb Amplify or 3rd Party Libraries)
  • Reporting & Insights (Absorb Analyze or Absorb Amplify Direct)
  • Social Learning (Absorb Engage)
I don't think we've utilized any of these to the full extent that we could have. Amplify was fine but there were a number of courses that were outdated and finding good courses was hard (I think the new filters might help).
Analyze is also nice but would be more helpful if we could create direct links and/or publish dashboards to a weblink rather than making users go to our website, sign in, go to the admin page, go to Analyze, then try and figure out which dashboard they want to access. Would also be nice to incorporate "and" and "or" into the same custom filter - this used to work but doesn't anymore.
Even when my problems haven't been solved, people have at least tried. For some of my Analyze questions, the timing has been a bit longer but never egregious.
The user interface in Absorb is awesome; the back end - admins don't have as much ability. In the past, I could do things like exclude groups from training, build groups based on people who had completed courses, link courses without having to put them in a curriculum, etc.

Do you think Absorb LMS delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Absorb LMS's feature set?

Yes

Did Absorb LMS live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Absorb LMS go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Absorb LMS again?

Yes

We still have a number of areas that do not have cell/wi-fi service. If the app were more developed, it would be VERY handy to have access to the ability to download courses, complete them, then upload them later.
