We use ActiveCampaign as a CRM, it's segmentations to send the right information to each subscriber. We use automation when new users subscribe and in our launches. And we use the campaigns to send newsletters regularly.

ActiveCampaing is a more complete tool. You can create complex automation workflows or use its templates. It integrates with plenty of tools through its API. It makes it easy to do A/B tests in your campaigns or in the automation workflows. The lead scoring is very useful though it's not available in all plans.
