Overall Satisfaction with ActivTrak

Productivity. Are team members working or surfing the web type of thing? So far, the value we've found, and thus what we're using the most, is tracking what websites are being accessed and for how long. We initially got ActivTrak to help with insurance rates, so its features are secondary in the intent of use.

Pros

  • Showing Websites Visited.
  • Providing Training.
  • Many Features.

Cons

  • Extremely Poor Interface.
  • Way too much to setup for getting all the results you COULD get.
  • Way too much maintenance needed, such as classification of websites.
  • I'm not sure on the dollar amount saved on insurance, but that would be a gain.
  • Proving an employee's unproductive helped remove a cost drain from the organization.
  • ROI - likely not there. It takes too much to manage, and the amount we save with the product isn't close to the monthly expense of over $1000.
  • In my opinion, the licensing system is terrible. You have to buy more seats for new users, but you can't turn those seats off. We went through a hiring boom, bought a bunch of seats, and then had lay-offs, and now we still have to pay for seats. We're losing money on that.
  • It fills in the gap that things like 365 may not track well, such as productivity around website use.
  • I'm sure with proper configuration, should an admin have tons of time, it could give valuable data.
  • It has cyber security features such as notifications when certain events occur.
This is where ActivTrak fails because you could potentially get this data, but it would take a ton of configuration and evaluation of the data. On any given day, an employee will have thousands of line items, accessing different programs, different time blocks, etc - all their daily actions. When looking at this, it's virtually impossible to get a clear picture of "whether this employee is productive or not." That's why we review website access.
No, not at all. The app must be configured tightly to get an accurate picture. It may work out of the box or have a simple configuration with a tiny two- to three-person company. However, the employees showing low productivity are some of our best team members who do the most work, so something is misaligned. While options and features are excellent, with a poor user interface and too many things to set, this is not even a feature I'd consider it for.
ActivTrak has not helped us with this at all.
We evaluated a few, the only one I remember was Controlio which was a bit easier to use, we just didn't like the name. We went with ActivTrak because another company used it and it seemed to work for them.

Do you think ActivTrak delivers good value for the price?

No

Are you happy with ActivTrak's feature set?

No

Did ActivTrak live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of ActivTrak go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy ActivTrak again?

No

Well, I am suited - serving as a means for lower-cost cybersecurity. We determined that some users were surfing websites nonrelated to work. Less Appropriate - I don't know if there is ever a time when ActivTrak is less appropriate, but again, I'd lean toward the fact that to get the value, you would probably need a full-time ActivTrak admin.
