Overall Satisfaction with Adobe Analytics

Adobe Analytics is the primary web analytics tool across the greater company footprint. We operate 15+ sites, and Adobe Analytics aggregates our web metrics across each of these properties. Generally, high level KPIs (Page Views, Visits, Unique Visitors) are the most requested reporting, but Adobe allows for rapid analysis of custom variables with segmentation and calculated metrics. These segments can often be built on the fly based on historical data.
  • Segmentation
  • Dashboarding (AKA Workspace)
  • Calculated Fields
  • Fallout / Page Flow
  • Admininstration (Managing other users)
  • Real-time analysis and reporting
  • Ability to work with other solutions in this space (plugins, data connectors, etc.)
  • Greater insight into performance of marketing campaigns
  • Page optimization
  • Ability to report on weekly / yearly traffic trends
Google Analytics is the other major player in this space. There are advantages to GA, chiefly, its 'single line of code' implementation. A free version is available. Developers are not required to add an 'out of the box' Google Analytics solution.

That said, Adobe Analytics possesses additional functionality beyond what is available in even Premium versions of GA. If you are an Enterprise level user, and have a development team, Adobe Analytics offers a higher degree of customization to fulfill business requirements.

This platform is excellent for enterprise level analytics. Analytics is flexible - equally suited for tracking ecommerce as is page view and video view events. Tracking video has been made easier with the rollout of Heartbeat tracking (superseding milestone-event based video tracking). Custom tracking variables can leverage an existing dataLayer without too much difficulty.

Analytics is expensive, and cost may be a barrier towards entry when free solutions exist - chiefly, Google Analytics.
