Overall Satisfaction with ADP Workforce Now

ADP is used company-wide here. We use time and attendance for employees to punch in and out of, we use payroll to provide easy, fluid access to their paycheck information. We also administer our benefits through ADP, we recruit through ADP and we manage talent reviews in the ADP system. It is our one stop shop for all things HR for our employees now. We process terminations in ADP which also allows us to use BeneDirect with ADP so they administer our Cobra plan.
  • The blending of all aspects of HR in ADP makes the system use very fluid. We like that we can have the employee in the system from hire to retire.
  • Allowing employees to have access to their own information is very empowering for them. We like that employees can look at their benefit enrollments, tax information and address along with their payroll history. This is very empowering from an employee standpoint.
  • From a manager standpoint I feel that the system gives the manager great power to make decisions. It can be simple things like workforce planning but also things along the lines of performance evaluations and annual reviews and pay increases.
  • Reporting abilities are AMAZING. You can get a report on basically anything you want in ADP. It can be a challenge to find out how to get that information into a report but the Customer Service help when it comes to custom reporting is great.
  • Some of the fields are not intuitive, meaning that when filling out things like phone #s and SSN's, the cursor does not automatically move to the next field once it is completed.
  • The performance management section doesn't fit our needs like we had hoped. We do not use a rating system for reviews and the ADP system is set up to be more advanced than what we are as a company. There's no way that we can change this so far and that's unfortunate.
  • Because ADP is such a huge program it runs a lot on cookies/cache. Because of that we have employees who really struggle with their passwords and the fact that we have them punch in and out on a public computer. Previous users and multiple tries with passwords seems to impact the next person who logs in.
  • We are now able to focus on other areas of our business instead of trying to build reports manually.
  • Our payroll is now in our hands. We know the process, where the money is going and how to resolve issues for our employees.
  • The organizational charts have saved our owners and all of our managers a ton of time and effort knowing what their orgs look like. We didn't have anything like that before that wasn't completely manual.
Our HR team has saved over 50 hours per month. - We had to do everything on paper and in Excel documents before. It was a huge time suck and caused a lot of errors. Employees were completely in the dark about their PTO balances, anniversary dates, review dates, etc. Right now we spend more of our time creating new programs and policies that protect our employees. We have more time to spend on safety and educating our employees on benefits. We are still new to ADP (Less than 2 years used) and have opportunities to unlock but we're so thrilled to have all of the information in ADP at our fingertips.
The previous system I used was an old version of PeopleSoft that was so far past needing to be updated that we were not able to make the modifications that we needed. It's not really a fair comparisson because the systems are so dramatically different. ADP has an all in one opportuntiy where there was only the HR portion in PeopleSoft. We did not have any recruiting or payroll opportunties in the system. When it's available, I highly suggest you go after it and have it all in one.
ADP is well suited when you have a large workforce. We have over 450 employees and frequently have those who are hired and those who retire. It's such a great opportunity to give employees ownership of their own employee information.

I think if you have a small business, it may be hard to justify the cost of ADP. However, the fact that they can take care of your payroll and taxes and such is pretty awesome.
