Overall Satisfaction with Asana
Asana is being used in the assessment office and other offices in Oakland Unified School District as a project management tool. It has not been adopted districtwide. It is a shared project management tool which supports accountability across all members of the team. The Gannt Chart features help us track multiple projects often in the same deliverable windows.
- We greatly appreciate the Google Sign-In feature as our school district has adopted Google districtwide.
- The internal team calendar has been very helpful to keep track of major deliverable markers.
- All of our team meetings center around project completion using Asana. If we've gotten behind in updating Asana on our own, then we make those updates during the meeting. Especially useful is the ability to write comments about need for support or tips related to each project.
- Since our projects vary very little from year to year, we are able to create a sense of institutional history which new members of the team can go back to last year to read the comments and plan accordingly.
- Our district changed its email address, so we're concerned [whether] we will use our ability to access old Asana archives starting next year. We haven't figured out how to transfer old records into our new email address account. To be fair we haven't asked Asana for tech assistance yet.
- Needs a built in fully functional Gannt Chart.
- Asana has really helped with on boarding new employees more quickly.
- Asana is the main reason we are able to manage multiple projects and meet hard deadlines.
We switched to Smartsheet for one year and we liked it mostly because of the Gannt Chart feature. However, leadership changed and the funding to continue to use it dried up. However, with all the upgrades to Asana over the past two years Smartsheet doesn't have as many advantages worth paying for anymore.
