Overall Satisfaction with Atlassian Confluence

We use Confluence as our primary documentation tool. We must collaborate on documentation, make it available to others in the organization, and provide good integrations with other products we use (Jira, Google Slides, etc.)

Pros

  • Real-time editing of documentation.
  • Tagging & linking documentation.
  • Integration with Jira and other products.
  • Simple, easy-to-learn interface.

Cons

  • Tables are improving, but they could provide better-advanced functionality when sorting/filtering. Sometimes, linking out to a separate spreadsheet doesn't seem required.
  • AI writing and creation tools aren't up to the standard of some competitors.
  • The mobile experience isn't great.
  • Improved access to documentation across large organizations.
  • Reduced time creating standard meeting documents (meeting notes, release notes, etc.)
One of the key benefits of Confluence is that it's incredibly easy to use. Any user of any skill level can jump in and at least use its basic functionality without much guidance. However, it still provides advanced capabilities, such as integrating Jira tickets and document /space permissions.
Confluence is unmatched when it comes to enterprise-level wiki/document repositories. Since we also use Jira, it is a no-brainer to use Confluence.

Do you think Atlassian Confluence delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Atlassian Confluence's feature set?

Yes

Did Atlassian Confluence live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Atlassian Confluence go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Atlassian Confluence again?

Yes

Well suited for highly accessible, large-scale documentation repository. Particularly in cases where transparency is particularly valuable. e.g., system requirements, how-to's, meeting notes, collaborative documents, release notes, etc. It is less appropriate for richer interactions such as workshops, where, for example, Miro might be a better option, or formal documentation, where Word or Docs would be more appropriate.
