Overall Satisfaction with Basecamp

At the company level, Basecamp serves as primarily as an information hub. We are starting to implement more project management processes with tasks and project boards. At the department level, Basecamp is our project management tool in Marketing. We track projects and tasks, share information, and manage reviews. We also use Basecamp to project manage and share information with external agencies.
  • Information sharing and communication
  • Simple user interface
  • Great mobile app
  • More sophistication in organization
  • More tools/widgets within project boards
  • Add resource management
  • (Positive) We're more efficiently communicating and documenting strategy.
  • (Positive) We're more efficiently sharing internal information.
  • (Positive) We're using Basecamp to communicate details that used to require meetings.
I think Basecamp delivers well on what it is able to deliver. It allows for lots of flexibility around task management and communication while maintaining easy user-ability. I think Basecamp could add more organizational tagging or visual cues for processes and reviews within task management to help users organize work. I also think a more sophisticated calendar or resource management tool would help users.
Basecamp is very receptive to user feedback. Overall, we have had very few technical issues with the system itself. Everything was easy to set up. The getting started tips while setting up is super helpful. Basecamp's help docs are very easy to follow. They are also very consistent with releasing new product updates and features.
Workfront was way too robust for our team to manage, while Basecamp is very easy for any user to set up and does not require lengthy training sessions. Communication within Basecamp (at the project or company level) is much easier to facilitate than in Workfront or Trello. Basecamp organization of projects and teams are more easily visible.
Basecamp is great for companies seeking to centralize internal communication, while also providing the opportunity for special teams to operate within their own project hub. Basecamp is not super overwhelming for users, so this works great for companies that aren't not familiar with sophisticated project/resource management tools.
