Overall Satisfaction with BigCommerce

Our store uses BigCommerce to operate our online store. BigCommerce allows us to use multiple channels to market our products to the widest possible audience. The integrated inventory and numerous apps for shipping and marketing are essential to our online business. Our store does team sales for numerous local sports teams from youth sports all the way to competitive adult leagues. BigCommerce allows us to track and organize our sales efficiently.

Pros

Cons

  • We had difficulty integrating our BigCommerce store with our Lightspeed POS system
  • The theme we chose for our store stopped being maintained which led to consistency issues.

The lack of integration with our POS makes scaling up the number of products we sell a cumbersome process. The lack of integrated inventory with our in store pos system means that we have to manage inventory manually which is time consuming and inefficient. We have looked into inventory management but nothing has seemed to be an option for us.
We only use the google api s on our page. Both the maps api and the general api allow us to track sales through searches as well as location data which can inform our marketing process. The fact we don't use any other api s come more down to our technical ability than it does to bigcommerce or their integration.
BigCommerce has more built in options than Shopify. While Shopify has lots more apps that are available and a lower initial price. The use of third party apps is good to have lots of options but each option needs to be vetted and dealt with independently. They greater number of integrated features from BigCommerce is a major advantage.

Using BigCommerce for a small number of skus would be much easier than a store like ours with thousands of different products. If your store already has lots of traffic than you wouldn't be as worried about the social media integration as we ended up being. A store with an online based pos like square would work better than the set up that we have.
