Overall Satisfaction with BigCommerce

We use the BigCommerce as e-Commerce. It is reliable cloud platform for e-Commerce. It has strong built in features and provides the faster deployment. It allows selling via multiple channels like web, social platforms and marketplaces. It handles the security and compliances so we do not have to worry about the same.

Pros

  • It has good B2B features like customer grouping, net payment terms etc.
  • It has very well catalog management. We can have thousands of SKUs.
  • Strong headless support, we can integrate NextJS as frontend.
  • Built In CDN
  • Very well described promotion system

Cons

  • Admin UX is very fragmented
  • Theme customization is complex and template driven
  • Smaller app ecosystem
  • CMS is very basic.
  • Without headless, checkout customization is limited.
  • It has positive effect because it reduces the development effort.
  • It has lower total cost of ownership.
  • It accelerates our launch.
  • It is scalable without performance issue.

It allows you to scale the website without worrying of the performance and speed. It has flexible and extensive API that can allow easy integration with frontend headless. It has good multi team support. It has multi storefront and multi channel support too but that is not centralized. The headless integration also requires the developer intervention.
We use their APIs to integrate our headless frontend. We use it to show the products, catalogs etc. Using the APIs we send it to them for orders. We can easily check the segments of the customers and easily manage the same. We also integrated our ERP for the stock synchronization.
BigCommerce is fully hosted SaaS product which handles the security, performance and upgrades whereas others need my intervention. It has strong built in B2B features that may be lacked in other platforms such as WooCommerce. It has strong APIs and ecosystem of integration which others may lack. It is itself PCI compliant.

It fits well where your target group is Mid B2B or B2C because it has well customer grouping and pricing, bulk purchasing and account purchasing. If you want fast launching it is good. If you are content heavy do not go for it because CMS is very basic. If you have customized checkout then also don't go for it.
