Overall Satisfaction with Braze

We use it predominantly as an ESP but also use canvases to add messaging directly to the site. Marketing Insights use it for analytics. My role is within customer lifecycle marketing so I specifically use the tool for customer segmentation, testing, campaign roll out and personalisation, using targeted comms to drive customer engagement. We regularly use the Content Cards and In Product Messaging and build automated journeys within lifecycle stages mainly for retention use cases.

Pros

  • The canvas builder is clear, and encourages adding complexity to campaigns. It is visually very easy to work with.
  • The documentation is very detailed and helpful, the Google-like search functionality is a good addition, making finding information easier.
  • The segment building is also clear and easy to use, again allowing simpler builds but also more complex builds.

Cons

  • I find it frustrating that I can't see previews of active/idle/stopped/archived canvases without going into the canvas, having to click edit canvas, wait for it to open etc - makes it difficult when quickly trying to find a visual example when you're not sure on the canvas name.
  • It's difficult to navigate between canvas's quickly.
  • When you add from Media to try and change and image, the image preview is so small it's really difficult to select the right asset when you're working with a block of very similar assets with only small visual tweaks.
  • More targeted campaigns have supported us in reducing offer spend by enabling us to not 'batch and blast' to all players. This reduces overall spend, a drive ROI up.
  • We see positive retention numbers, again supporting that the personalisation we're delivering via Braze is making our customers return and drive CLTV.
The UI is clear, it feels natural to move around the platform. The documentation also supports this plus I personally have had a positive experience with our Braze team who have been very knowledgeable and able to provide solutions for us. A couple of clucky things in the canvas builder that I've already mentioned, only addition to that is that it would be really helpful to be able to schedule comms in different time zones.
I can only really talk to the real-time data, journey orchestration, segmentation and analytics sections but the real time data is helpful to draw top line numbers and reassurance that campaigns are working. Same with analytics, it's helpful to have this on a dashboard for a read on top line success metrics whilst marketing analytics do a deeper dive. Journey orchestration and segmentation have worked hand in hand to see higher engagement from our base which over time has driven significant incremental revenue for the business.
I think Braze is the strongest currently. I found Emarsys to be very difficult to navigate and clunky. Ometria I found to be a good platform, however, more difficult to scale. My role using Ometria was more integration focused so had more exposure to the challenges with integrating with other tools however my role using Braze is different so I can't comment on that. Braze's regular new releases and updates is a huge pro, they feel industry leading with the amount of newer features released and on the roadmap.

Do you think Braze delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Braze's feature set?

Yes

Did Braze live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Braze go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Braze again?

Yes

I work a lot in the Canvas builder, building out automated journeys for customers. Braze has been a great tool for me to add complexity into my targeting using liquid (the AI liquid tool is particularly useful for guidance). I think the newer addition of the last step before scheduling a canvas is particularly helpful, where it provides a step-by-step run through of your set up to check before hitting send. I work predominantly in email so majority of the Braze tools are highly suitable for my role.
