Overall Satisfaction with Cloudflare

Cloudflare is being used by our technology and web department to support the organization's website, which hosts content from across the whole organization.

Specifically, we use Cloudflare to host our DNS, provide SSL certificates and site security from DDoS attacks and other threats, improve web page load times, and monitor general website performance.
  • The pricing is very reasonable. The free tier offers a lot of features.
  • It's an easy way to implement SSL.
  • Aggressive website caching can confuse new users.
  • The interface could be more user friendly for non-technical users.
  • Positive: we are able to do most of our site monitoring with Cloudflare's free tier.
  • Positive: Cloudflare's SSL saves us over $100 yearly.
Cloudflare and CloudFront are both great tools. I would recommend Cloudflare for sites that are not hosted on Amazon, and CloudFront for sites using Amazon Web Services.

The pricing and features are comparable. Overall, Cloudflare's free tier offers more services, which gives it a slight edge over the competition.
Cloudflare support is not its strong suit, especially on the free tier (which is understandable). They have a lot of documentation available, but you will need to pay for person-to-person support.

Since Cloudflare is technically complicated in many ways, it would be nice if their documentation was more detailed in some areas.

Do you think Cloudflare delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Cloudflare's feature set?

Yes

Did Cloudflare live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Cloudflare go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Cloudflare again?

Yes

Cloudflare is well suited for all websites, especially those managed by a small team/staff.

For small teams, Cloudflare provides many essential services right away, including SSL certificates, website performance monitoring, content delivery networks, and site security. For larger teams, a lot of these services can be more specialized, so Cloudflare is probably not needed.
