Overall Satisfaction with Deputy

We moved over to Deputy from another scheduling software due to increased flexibility on details it could track with employees, specifically in the area of more advanced rules and tracking training. The copy schedule to another week has also made life so much simpler, as our previous scheduling software could only copy to next week, and this has allowed us to copy multiple weeks much faster.

Deputy has a bit more flexibility in scheduling rules and allows to track training which was a huge plus for us and why we moved over. Our team liked the UI of When I Work better, but the features of Deputy have won us over. Pricing also worked better for our scenario.

It does exactly what you would expect from scheduling software, and does a great job of it. I did find the employee details menu to not be as intuitive as I would have expected, but it tracks just about everything we need plus more and has allowed us to move away from separate methods of tracking training.
Implementation was smooth. If you are moving over from many other scheduling platforms, you should have all the information you have to implement Deputy in your organization in no time.
Lightspeed Retail, Google Workspace (formerly G Suite), Paychex Flex
Great for retail use. Not sure when it comes to scheduling hourly employees where it wouldn't work great.

Using Deputy

4 - All of our team members use Deputy.
1 - I currently support our team with Deputy. Deputy doesn't require a whole lot of skills to support and has a robust set of documentation.

It's been working great for us, and we haven't seen any need to move over to another scheduling platform anytime soon.

Evaluating Deputy and Competitors

Yes - When I Work. When I Work has a price increase which was fine, but we decided to investigate other platforms just to make sure we were using the scheduling software that worked best for us. When we found Deputy, we migrated over relatively fast after seeing some of the more advanced features of Deputy.

Product features, specifically the more advanced rules about stress management, and the training tracking are what won us over for Deputy. We also like the task management built-in, but at the moment we still use another piece of software for that aspect.
I would have our team test viewing and modifying their schedule as part of the evaluation process.

Change management was minimal - None, it was a relatively smooth implementation.

Deputy Training

Did a great job of getting us up to speed with their online documentation.

Configuring Deputy

I believe that the configurability is just right for scheduling software, especially for smaller businesses.
The basics of every scheduling software, have all your team members' information ready.
No - there is no facility to customize the interface
No - we have not done any custom code
We have not completed any additional configuration.

We have not purchased any type of premium support from Deputy, as they have provided great documentation and have not come across the need for it.
When we were evaluating Deputy, they promptly got back to me with every question I had, and I never felt that I was being supported just to make the sale. They seemed to genuinely care about my problems and resolve them.
Deputy has been great, but more importantly, they make it where even having to consider contacting support is a very rare occurance.
