Overall Satisfaction with Google Voice

Producing the podcast Tacocity often requires me to remote interview chefs all over the globe. I use Google Voice to record the other end of the phone call for episodes of the show. The quality of calls surpasses Skype, and it's literally one-click to record the call. I've recorded calls with Google Voice on close to half of the 70 episodes released.
  • Recording phone call
  • Reception both domestic and overseas
  • Inexpensive rates for international calls
  • Ease of use
  • Better implementation with Gmail and other Google services
  • Cleaner interface
  • MacOS app
  • Helps facilitate interviews I wouldn't get otherwise
  • Allows me to have audio recordings of interviewees
  • Low/no cost solution
Google Voice has much better call quality than Skype (and it's easier to use), and it's much less expensive than Zoom, which is a bit bloated for my needs. Also, Skype feels outdated and aged out - Voice is a hip product that seems better designed for the needs of producers today.
Personally, in all the time I've used Google Voice, I haven't had to reach out to customer support. Their help page has been great at answering any questions I've had.
If you have to interview someone, or record their end of the conversation, Google Voice is the easiest and least expensive way to do it. All you have to do is call the other person using your Google Voice number and hit 4, an automated voice will come on the phone and let you know that the call is now being recorded. Once you're done, the recording can be downloaded from your Voice page using Chrome.

Using Google Voice

I haven't had problems with dropped calls, bad reception, lost recordings - everything works the way it should. The iOS app is easy to use, and the process is easy to explain to other people. It's also the cheapest way I've found to call internationally - I've used it to interview people from London and Austraila.
