Overall Satisfaction with Google Voice

We use it to contact clients who prefer to communicate via text. Often, many VOIP services charge for SMS messages, or their service is not particularly reliable, so we use a reliable platform to communicate with clients. We also use it to get routine updates from vendors and confirmations from shipping companies.

Pros

  • Voice Quality.
  • Reliability
  • SMS functionality.
  • Intuitive UI.

Cons

  • Better workflows for more complex call routing.
  • Better application interface.
  • Spam blocking.
  • Allows us to communicate with clients.
  • Makes it easier to store contact information.
  • Streamlines our communication channels.
I think it works really well in the arena it operates in, but not so well in areas where an enterprise system would be more appropriate. It's great for quick solutions that just work, but not so much for more complex call management tasks.
Google Voice definitely lacks features compared to enterprise-level solutions. Enterprise VoIP providers have a customer support component well in place. The interfaces for desktop and mobile are also much more refined, and they integrate well with the existing communication systems. The biggest thing is customer support. You can get someone on the phone within minutes to troubleshoot your VOIP service with the enterprise systems.

Do you think Google Voice delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Google Voice's feature set?

No

Did Google Voice live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Google Voice go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Google Voice again?

No

It's best suited for small businesses that want a separate number for their organization while retaining most of their cell phone's functionality. It's not as appropriate for larger organizations or for those that need complex call routing and multiple users. Larger businesses would be better served by an enterprise VoIP service.
