Overall Satisfaction with Heap

Heap is used to capture and report on user behavior in the platform. Our analytics team was the key driver and did the initial setup. End users are primarily the analytics team, along with product managers and designers. We use the data captured with Heap to help guide decisions on short-term feature updates to the product, as well as during the discovery phase of longer term strategic initiatives.
  • Nice interface.
  • Easy to understand visualizations.
  • I'm not a daily user, so I have to relearn what the primary navigation. What's a Report vs. Definition vs. Analyze?
  • I only use my personal space to create definitions, because when I try to publish a message is sent to the admin and that takes too long.
  • Increased engagement.
  • Higher conversion.
Overall I'm impressed with the UI and the workflow for creating definitions. Nice job with creating delight with the overall branding and copy tone. I think the one area that I always stumble on is the information architecture and navigation labels. As I mentioned before, I always have to relearn what everything is in the global navigation.
Overall I think it performs solidly, but sometimes pages take a while to load, or logging in can take 10+ seconds. We use SSO, which might be the culprit, but I usually wish it could load faster.
Pendo I don't see as a direct competitor, as Heap is much more flexible and powerful of a tool. I use Pendo for onboarding flows and metrics about that, but that's about it. We used Amplitude at my last company, but I was not a big user of it. My feeling about it is very similar to Heap though—I think of it as a pretty easy to use tool that I could figure out fairly quickly and get value from if needed.

Do you think Heap delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Heap's feature set?

Yes

Did Heap live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Heap go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Heap again?

Yes

Personally, I use it more for tactical decision-making. For example, supporting an assumption to move a feature from the UI into an dropdown menu—I can look at the usage data to steer me in the right direction. Likewise, I've created similar reports to tell about commonly used filters, or common actions from a page.
