Overall Satisfaction with Intuit Mailchimp
Mailchimp makes it possible for us to efficiently meet the needs of our growing labor union. The merge tag feature has been invaluable to ensuring that each member knows their status without having to call in or email us.
Pros
- Merge Tags
- Branding
- Bulk Tagging
Cons
- When I bulk upload contacts so that their fields can be updated, Mailchimp assumes that they're new contacts at first. I often get emails warning me that I'm exceeding my plan and need to upgrade to avoid a fee, but really there might only be a few new contacts after the updates are made.
- Higher open rate
- Saving staff time
- Better tracking of all emails sent to a single contact over time = better relationships with contacts
Usually our members respond more quickly to Mailchimp emails than they do to those directly from outlook.
- Segmentation
- Sign-up forms
- Campaign templates
- Email marketing
- Customer journeys (automated workflows)
- Reporting
Because we're able to customize through segmentation, each email our members get is more meaningful and less likely to be interpreted as "spam"
Our SMS feature has made it easier to communicate with members who don't have a computer (many of our members are over 70). Notification of a dues deadline through SMS helped us reach one member last year who was over 90 years old. Because of the text feature, she was able to send a check in time to maintain her union membership.
Its scaling ability has made it easier for our board of directors to be assured that we're not overspending on communications for the size of our local. We have not yet needed to accommodate more contacts than when we started.
Constant Contact was overpriced and Action Network worked poorly.
