Last year, our Marketing Department was searching for a solution for interactive web content to actively engage users in what is considered boring, static content. We wanted to "spice up" our product offerings and showcase a type of "choose your own adventure" when insurance agents are helping their clients select the right product for clients. We also wanted to provide a less linear approach to researching key components of each product and allow agents to actively compare products side-by-side rather than sift through dozens of web pages and/or product brochures.
We chose ion to not only address these needs, but it was very user friendly - no code or developer experience needed. Anybody without an IT background can use ion's software. We are very happy with our initial ion projects and the data is showing great promise.

Pros
- Support: Their support team is extremely helpful, knowledgeable & patient. They helped us establish a successful integration to our CMS (Eloqua).
- Training: To begin our first experience, they provided step-by-step training to help create our first ion experience. They also followed up after our first experience was complete for a Q&A session. They've been helpful in answering questions regarding analytics & they've provided excellent documentation to help us learn more offline.
- System availability: No matter what you throw at ion's system, it is always operational with no slowness or other issues. We can count on ion's system to function the way they promised: perfectly, 24/7.
Cons
- Upfront information: When we initially started the process to get our data integrated, we were not aware ion already had a partner agreement with our CMS. We planned for an intensive data integration, but it turned out they only needed a few pieces of information. It was a mis-understanding, but it turned out to be a really good thing in the end.
- Level of detail: There is quite a bit to learn about their product. If you are not a good/fast learner, you will need to either start on a small project or pay ion to do your first few projects for you.
- Honestly, there really isn't much more "bad" to talk about. It's been a very positive experience so far.
- We are fairly new in our post-campaign analysis, but so far the data shows an increased level of engagement in key product areas. In a few short months, this level of engagement is already beating out our current channels that showcase product information.
- With the integration, we are able to add another level of total user engagement to our user profiles & personas. This allows us to create more targeted campaigns that allow us to provide content to the users who want to receive it.
- ion helped us create several templates that we can easily whip up a campaign with very little extra work. Our designers and project managers are impressed at how quickly and easily they are able to create campaigns.
