Stay Away from UKG Products

Use UKG Pro for payroll and scheduling. In my opinion, it's terrible for Public sector operations that are 24/7, like police and fire. I would never recommend.

Pros

  • In my experience, give my organization a new technical problem every week
  • In my experience, overcharge for services not rendered
  • I feel it's outstanding in how it always has something wrong

Cons

  • Better implementation support, not steamroll with consulting
  • Better priority with technical tickets
  • Needs to provide cross-departmental super users the ability to view employees in different business units. i.e. Finance can see all Police employee timecards and schedules for auditing
  • Faster report generation for 1000+ employees
  • Better connectivity with ERP system
  • I feel there's too much nonsense to click for any action
  • In my experience, accruals are always a problem, giving errors
  • I infinitely wish for this system to crash and for UKG to be bankrupted to the stone-age so a better system can take its place

Return on Investment

  • Negative ROI, have to pay (In time, administrative hassle, accounting corrections) every month for something to be fixed

UKG Pro Do Better Please

As a general manager I use UKG Pro to schedule my employees, complete trainings, check and update HR info, process payroll etc. I use it on almost a daily basis

Pros

  • i can not think of a single thing that, in my opinion, UKG Pro does better than anyone else
  • almost everything is difficult to use for us
  • and frankly I don't understand how they're so highly rated

Cons

  • In our experience, the page reloads every. single. time. you. do. anything. it's seriously infuriating and can make posting a schedule take 5 times longer than other scheduling platforms
  • shift types should be color coded and you should be able to view the shift type without clicking into it
  • please stop displaying the notification about the "new" drag and drop feature. it's not new. you've been saying this all year. and it doesn't really even work well.
  • In my opinion, the UX is not intuitive in the slightest, just in general it's very difficult to use
  • not having the option to change your schedule view to start on any day of the week other than monday is incredibly frustrating for us. our company starts the pay week on saturdays so calculating overtime for the week is difficult now that you've changed it.
  • week/month schedules should be able to be copied. and you should be able to both copy and delete a shift from the month view. I think it's crazy that you don't have this functionality
  • the fact that I had to hunt this survey down to give feedback because you have no direct support contact is also very inconvenient. In my opinion, UKG Pro doesn't care about the experience of their customers and this makes that evident
  • it's almost 2026 and the state of your mobile app is dissapointing at best. My team members almost exclusively use their phones to access their profile, and I think UKG Pro needs to put a focus on making the mobile user experience easier and more intuitive

  • UKG Pro has significantly increased the amount of time I spend writing schedules, taking time away from other tasks that could use my attention more
  • UKG Pro has confused and frustrated my employees, again taking away time from other tasks to continuously troubleshoot and figure out how to access very basic information

So we basically use it for all the things, benefits, we use it for payroll, we use it for timekeeping. I think so that's all that we really use it for, but we would like to see if there's more of an easier way to just put everything together.

Pros

  • Well I would say recently the customer service has increased tremendously and I love that because when you put in a case and then you get the message maybe two to five minutes later and then someone's contacting you on the phone or an email. And I love that part because we are in customer service, so just be having that support is truly amazing.

Cons

  • Teachers that are hard functionality. Okay. I would say the most issues that we've had is the admins or the HR department losing their access and it throws us for a loop. It's like, what happened? What's going on? So that's the main thing. And then some of our employees struggle with the hourly employees try to struggle with timekeeping as in clocking in and clocking out. But we got that resolved. Thank you UKG Pro. And our employees are happy again. I would recommend UKG Pro.

Return on Investment

  • I would say the employee engagement has improved overall with UKG Pro. And I feel like over, since we've had it for about two, I think it's three years, we've officially had UKG Pro from where it started from beginning to now, it has very transformed through just the business objectives I guess you can say. And then employees at first hated it and then now it's like, okay, we like UKG Pro because they're problem solving. They're coming up, they're coming to be with us more, which is awesome.

We use UKG Pro for everything from onboarding new hires to payroll, benefits admin and performance review. It really fixes the mess of having ten different tools doing one persons job ; It bring it all under one roof. Especially useful in compliance and track reporting. We are in IT so audit season is no joke.

Pros

  • Payroll is clean accurate and fast, No drama, no mystery deduction, just smooth and direct deposits every time.
  • On Boarding is amazing; new hires can get their docs, e-sign and are in the system before you can say compliance audit.

Cons

  • Some parts still give spreadsheet-era vibes. The UI can be clunky; like why does it take five clicks to run a basic report.

Return on Investment

  • We have shaved at least 20% off admin hours across HR and payroll real time back in our week, not just fluff
  • Our engagement scores have jumped after we started using their feedback and talent modules more strategically.

I am the Payroll Manager. My team is responsible for processing any pay or time related items. We configure business rules related to payroll. We run standard and ad hoc reports for internal and external customers. We utilize payment services for tax filing, garnishments, and direct deposits.

Pros

  • Step by step payroll processing
  • User friendly for employee self service
  • Robust reporting

Cons

  • New feature rollouts need a bit more communication/training
  • Prior year adjustments and amendments have too many steps
  • Deduction start/stop at year end stressful
