Overall Satisfaction with ISL Light
We use ISL Light primarily to provide ad hoc remote support services where the end user downloads the client as required and allows us to connect to their machine. We also use it for monitoring and managing servers and PC's in an unattended state as it offers a quick and easy connection
Pros
- Allow unattended access to servers and PC's
- Offers a straightforward experience for users wanting on demand remote support
- Makes file transfers to and from the connected machine very easy
Cons
- It would be useful to have documentation showing what the user is likely to be seeing so that they can be guided through the client setup process with a bit more confidence.
- Initial client setup on MacOS is difficult and this would also benefit from some instructions.
- ISL Light unattended access has considerably reduced the amount of time that it used to take when trying to get a user to establish a remote connection, particularly to servers where they were often unfamiliar with the system.
- Remote support in general significantly reduces the amount of time needed on site visits as the vast majority of issues can be managed remotely and ISL Light does a great job with remote support.
- Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection Manager (RDCMan)
Much more intuitive when compared to remote desktop and as no changes are required on the firewall on the server side, it's a much more secure connection.
