Overall Satisfaction with Webex App

We use the Webex app as part of our Cisco Unified Communications package. Webex is primarily used for intra-company chat. It is available to all employees and connected to our Active Directory and integrated with Single Sign-on. For this, it is a very useful tool. It is also integrated with our Cisco IP telephony system to allow VoIP calls, even when away from the office. This integration also allows us to review voicemail and do screen-sharing for impromptu meetings.
  • Intra-company chat. It is a very competent chat client with many added features like file sharing, screen sharing, status and location updates , and emoji.
  • Telephony integration for VoIP calling (including video calling with a webcam) and voicemail access.
  • Integration with WebEx to review meeting calendar and launch meetings from one window.
  • The mobile app could use some optimization for both iOS and Android. It is a bit of a battery hog, but it does function well.
  • File sharing is not as seamless as it could be. Sometimes file transfers fail or timeout before completing.
  • Telephony connections outside of organization network. Occasionally the connection with our IP telephony system will disconnect when on an external network if you do not have a VPN connection.
  • Webex allows us to collaborate in real-time, which then makes everyone more efficient at their work.
  • Webex allows us to troubleshoot on the fly with screen-sharing, which keeps everyone moving along in their work.
  • Webex allows us to stay connected remotely, which increases up-time when away from the office.
The solution has been adopted company-wide. It has become the standard for all text and voice communication, along with virtual meetings. Overall, I believe that adoption went quite well. I haven't heard of many complaints and it has now moved into a natural part of daily work life. It helps that it has so many functions all within one app.
We previously used Microsoft Lync before it made the switch to Skype. Although it was a fine tool, it didn't have the communication integration that comes with the Cisco solution.

Do you think Webex App delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Webex App's feature set?

Yes

Did Webex App live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Webex App go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Webex App again?

Yes

Webex is part of our official enterprise communication suite, so there really is no other choice for us. With that said, it is a very good tool and better than our previous system. The integration with the Cisco suite is fantastic and really makes it a seamless tool that requires very little thought or training. It's a solid solution for anyone looking for intra-company communication via IM.

Cisco Hybrid Work

  • Webex Meetings
  • Webex App
  • Webex Calling
  • Working from anywhere (e.g., coffee shop, airport)
  • Working from an office or other company space
  • Working from home
As of writing this, our company has settled on a hybrid work model where employees are expected to be in office Tuesday-Thursday and can work remote on Monday and Friday. Of course, there are some exceptions, but this has been followed by most employees. Because we had the Cisco Webex app available prior to this decision, it has made the change seemless. Both text and voice calling are available through the app. All meetings and recordings are as well. Voicemail from the office phone can also be received. I wasn't part of the implementation, but user adoption has been high with few complaints.
I don't believe there were any challenges with the technology. The challenges faced were around finding a model that work for employees and the company. To maintain productivity and accountability. COVID created a new model of work for so long that people were hesitant to go back to the old version. I believe the balance has been implemented well and is fair.
Maintaining communication is key to having a successful hybrid work solution. Additionally, having an all in one solution helps adoption and ease of use. The Webex App has been that solution for us and I don't feel like communication has dropped. From the quick text messages to longer calls when a deeper discussion or screen-sharing is necessary. We have been able to maintain the contact needed to get work done.
I think we have experienced a model that works and is sustainable. The technology has enabled us to do this. Our business continues to thrive and work is getting done. That is what is important, no matter where you work from. Communication and connection are key to most projects and interactions around the company. Webex has allowed us to do that. I don't believe our customers have noticed a difference.
I believe Cisco was chosen because it also provided a solution for our inter-office phone system and our customer service call center, in addition to all the other features we use as employees. I have noticed that Webex video quality in online meetings is slightly worse than some competitors, however, it has been very stable. Recording quality is on par and messaging is just as good as the competition. You can create teams, rooms, and use threads. The mobile app could also be a bit faster to load, but it works and is continually updated.
