Overall Satisfaction with Litmus
Litmus was used to check our templates for readability across various devices and email platforms, especially in Outlook, but also with some of the more obscure platforms that some of our regions' contacts still used. Additionally we used it to check for inbox placement for some of our more important corporate messaging to larger audiences.
Pros
- Email render testing
- Email optimization
- HTML coding help
- Spam testing
- Offers lots of helpful content that is consistently up to date
Cons
- Ease of use--it's gotten a bit more complicated recently and is not as intuitive.
- Nickel-and-dimed features - not (always) an all inclusive package for all features and it's expensive to add users if you need to add 1 or 2 more.
- Ability to test rendering of emails across email clients and browsers in one "view"
- Ease of checking HTML coding and fixing some issues
- A trusted source for information regarding email creation and testing
It was nice when I was able to test directly out of Eloqua, just for the ease of use, but it was not the absolute reason for using Litmus--at least not for me personally, as I started using Litmus before that was ever available.
Litmus is a trusted source of information in its articles and other content offerings, but we did/do not use reporting out of Litmus to guide any strategy at this time--we do not have all our marketing team using Litmus. In
my previous work, Litmus helped to establish standard email templates to ensure
that our emails consistently rendered well across all devices, thus allowing readers to
concentrate on our marketing messages.

We do not use this feature--again due to the limitation of adding specific number of users without the expense going through the roof.
Litmus was easier to use and more robust (at that time) than Email on Acid. With my current job, Litmus was already in use.
