The best BI reporting option for Orgs in the G-Suite
Overall Satisfaction with Looker
Looker is used as cross cross-functional reporting dashboard, for teams to keep track of important metrics, progress of projects and overall health of features and customer activity. Each board can be customized with your own built graphs and tables, making it easier to connect data and limiting the need for individuals to dig into analytic platforms or raw data - creating a central source of truth.
Pros
- Connects data between different sources
- Free/low cost option in the g-suite
- easy/templated visuals to portray data
Cons
- Comment/Discussion functionality could be improved
- Limited ability for individual exploration of data beyond reports
- more advanced visual customizations and graphs would be nice
- A shared definition/concrete numbers save time on team alignment
- Defining metrics and reporting can be done quickly
- Permissions and sharing make collaboration of report creation easy
Tableau provides additional visual functionality and is great for more in-depth visuals or further data exploration, but it is costly and an extremely robust solution for simple data reporting. Looker can't be beat when it comes to integrating with other G-Suite tools. All in all Looker is great option when the rest of the org does not want to invest heavily in additional tools.
