Overall Satisfaction with MailChimp
At Akita we use MailChimp to distribute our "Customer Success Roundup", a weekly digest of blog posts, podcasts and other resources involving the emerging field of Customer Success. This newsletter helps us share industry knowledge with our customers and the wider Customer Success community. MailChimp is used to maintain the subscriber list, construct newletter templates, and build and send the weekly edition.
- The MailChimp template and email editor are first class. You can use their "what you see is what you get" WYSIWYG editor or dive straight into the HTML. As you make changes to the source the appearance of the newsletter is updated in real time.
- MailChimp gives us fantastic reports about click through rate and open rate as well as the growth of our list over time.
- Our delivery rates seem very high with MailChimp. We've used several competitors and MailChimp seems to meet or exceed their rates.
- The MailChimp reporting could be improved somewhat. I would like better time-series graphs to see clicks and opens for all emails (and individual emails) over time.
- Our weekly newsletter is the centerpiece of our industry and customer outreach. It provides an excellent source of leads for our sales team and more than justifies the small price tag of the application.
I have used ExactTarget and Campaign Monitor. MailChimp is far superior to ExactTarget in my opinion. Campaign Monitor is even more polished than MailChimp but for the most part these benefits are around the UI and design. As Campaign Monitor is (or was) more expensive than MailChimp, I felt MailChimp provided the overall "best value".
