Overall Satisfaction with Mailchimp

We are using MailChimp as one of the tools for user data management and preparing and sending out newsletters. Also, we are using the website widget for newsletter signup. It was crucial for us at this stage to find a free tool - specifically for the website widget and gathering email addresses for newsletter.
  • Installing a widget for submitting email address for newsletter database
  • Preparing email templates for newsletter
  • Customizing the widget
  • Sending out newsletters is only available in the paid plan
  • Managing users database could be made easier (we found it easier in competition's tools)
  • Quick and easy implementation of a newsletter signup widget that we could do on our own (saved some money on external software house fees)
  • Managing user's database from the same place where signups are flowing into (saved us time of managing two databases instead)
Mailchimp was our top of mind tool that we used first. Other than the lack of possibility to send newsletter in the free plan, Mailchimp is a comprehensive solution that addresses all our needs. Also, it is widely recognized so any newsletter received from them by our users looks legitimate.
We found managing the users database somehow complex. This happened when we were trying to feed the database with the records we had in our *.csv file. This particular task was easier to perform in the competition's tools, for example GetResponse. Other than that, we were satisfied with all the other functionalities of the system.
We managed to consolidate multiple activities within one tool after implementing Mailchimp. Before that, we were using different tools/databases to gather newsletter signups, keeping the database of users and managing the marketing consents (that are necessary to decide which users can receive marketing messages). It was one more tool used by use back then for sending out newsletters.
The biggest win for us and something we have not expected Mailchimp to deliver was the possibility to implement the website widget for newsletter signups. Setting it up and customizing was very easy and we could do this by ourselves (without having experienced knowledge about development). Thanks to this feature, we saved some money by not having to ask our external software house to do it.

Do you think Mailchimp delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Mailchimp's feature set?

Yes

Did Mailchimp live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Mailchimp go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Mailchimp again?

Yes

Mailchimp suited us well in the area of installing and customizing the widget used on our website for gathering emails from people willing to signup for our newsletter. The submitted addresses are automatically flowing to the database where they are stored. Managing them could have been easier but it is decent enough. We were lacking the possibility to send out newsletter in the free plan.
