Overall Satisfaction with Microsoft 365 (formerly Office 365)

Microsoft 365 is the application of choice for authoring, editing, reviewing, and collaborating on documents, spreadsheets, presentations and more at my organization. It is used across all departments and is ubiquitous regardless of operating system and system type.
Overall, the application is used for documentation and creation of materials for the communication of information - whether through graphics, text, or formatted data (i.e. spreadsheets and such). There are also specific tools within the suite that are used for more targeted elements such as note-taking, project planning, and creating flowcharts.
  • Very high powered - the application is capable of virtually anything that you need it to do.
  • The application has features that make it easy for multiple colleagues to collaborate on a single item.
  • Microsoft 365 is widely adopted and thus, does not suffer from compatibility issues with other applications.
  • The user interface can be complex - although it is relatively easy to learn basic functions, it may take a while to become truly proficient.
  • Due to the many interfaces it allows for, it can be prone to generating errors that require uninstall/re-install to fix.
  • It requires a subscription, which means that there isn't a permanent product.
  • Collaboration features, multi-user access/editing as well as change tracking and review functions such as comments
  • Basic data analysis

  • Creating presentations
  • Increased efficiency through easier, more efficient, and higher quality collaboration.
  • Widespread adoption allows for reduced costs and greater consistency within the organization.
  • The subscription-based package model means that licenses are purchased for some users that may not use certain applications or features within the package.

Microsoft 365 can be used to satisfy all main office documentation needs, from text documents, presentations, data crunching in spreadsheets, scheduling, project management, and flowcharts and other graphics. It is a great general utility application that serves most needs. The scenarios in which it is less appropriate include very niche spaces such as high-end graphics needs, photo editing or handling of other media. Additionally, while some basic data analysis can be done using Microsoft 365, higher powered packages may be needed for complex analysis and computations.
