Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are using Microsoft Teams in our organization for chat, sharing, collaboration, and for telephone calls and meetings (voice as well as video). It is a great all-in-one tool, and the teams that have access to all the features have embraced it quite quickly. We often get requests from people who are still on Skype for Business that they should be fully enabled/migrated to Teams as we are doing a phased migration.

Sometimes a single-pane of glass may be difficult for people to use.

It will have a positive impact when we move entirely away from our older telephony system.

Skype for Business (formerly Lync)

Microsoft Teams is the natural progression from Skype, and you would notice the lack of features if you had to move back.

Microsoft Teams is well suited in a collaborative environment. Especially if you have remote team members, it is probably less well suited if the only people you need to communicate with for your role are located in your immediate vicinity.
