Microsoft Teams is used through out our organization as a part of Office 365 Enterprise solution add-on. Microsoft Teams is mainly used as a communication platform and integrated collaboration tool by cross-functional teams from various departments with different geographical locations. It facilitates secure persistent workplace chat, voice and video conference and file sharing capabilities between team members.

Alternatives Considered

Microsoft Teams is definitely a strong contender to Slack. For small organizations with small teams, Slack has a clear advantage in term of setup and ease of use. However, for large organizations with dedicated and specialized IT Administrators the task of setting up Microsoft Teams is surely no problem at all. Bundled subscription with Microsoft Office 365 definitely more appealing for a large organization with big number of employees.

Microsoft Teams in-app documentation provides a wide range of topics from general inquiries, self-help troubleshooting, to more technical training materials. It also has strong community. On top of that, Microsoft Teams also has a 24/7 enterprise grade support as part of Microsoft Office 365 Enterprise Plans, with clear service level agreements for critical and high priority severity.

Seamless integration with other Microsoft Office 365 applications makes it easier for team members to collaborate and contribute. However, setting up and administrating Microsoft Teams are quite challenging tasks that might require a dedicated IT administrator. Moreover, integration with some third-party applications might also become an issue.
