Overall Satisfaction with Microsoft Teams
What don't we use Microsoft Teams for? Since it's implementation, our Team has turned it into the all-access hub for all of our communication. We break down teams based on projects and they use Teams channels to post ideas and share work. We also use Microsoft Teams for video calls and to record customer interviews. I personally use the calendar feature to help me stay up-to-date. We have integrations with some of our others services that feed into Microsoft Teams as well.
- Video calls are great with Microsoft Teams. They've made big improvements over the last year and I rarely have issue with getting on. It's nice when things just work.
- The most used functionality is, of course, the chat feature. It does what it's supposed to do and you can create chat groups from whoever you'd like. We use it a lot when there is a special project and a team from various groups get together for a short period of time to get things done.
- An overlooked function is the ability to search anything within Microsoft Teams. Any photo, document, or chat can be searched and found pretty easily. I can't tell you how many times this has saved me from having to rewrite something or start over.
- The mobile experience could use more help. Not huge things but more annoyances. For example, you can only view the calendar in a week view on the mobile app. Also, the ability to schedule meetings and change the dates and times is rather difficult to do. So much so that I often wait until I am near a computer to get it done.
- I'd love to see more integrations. Slack still has Microsoft Teams beat on this.
- The video chat feature is by far the most utilized and used. It's easy to use in the office to ask a quick question or to brainstorm an idea.
- Calendar is one of my most used parts of teams. I use it for everything, including my personal stuff. I've been able to remove other calendar app and use this almost exclusively.
- It's nice to be able to create chat groups on the fly depending on the project you're working on. Teams makes it easy to do too.
- I'm not sure I can point to a specific ROI, but it has improved our ability to communicate and work more effectively together.
- It's also nice to have records of every interaction, photo, and document that has been shared. Less chance of something completely disappearing.
Microsoft Teams is becoming the norm for a lot of companies. I can't say that it beats Slack in every respect but, from my limited experience with Slack, I would say Microsoft Teams is initially easier to use and understand. When it comes to integrations, however, Slack still has the upper hand on Microsoft Teams. Although, I doubt Microsoft Teams will be that way for long. Just in the last year, Microsoft Teams has made a lot of improvements. I would only expect that to increase.
